Windows 8/8.1 Hoster Tip

Hey Guys/Gals

I was having problems with audio cut-outs etc. using Windows 8.1 and whilst I was investigating the problems I gave the computer the old fashioned three finger salute (CNTRL/ALT/DEL) and selected Task Manager so I could monitor CPU usage. Imagine my surprise when viewing the Details tab I right clicked over Hoster.exe to see what I could do with it and in the menu that came up found an option to Set Priority. Having changed the Priority for Hoster from Normal to Realtime I now have not had a single audio drop-out! Please try this and see if it corrects your problems. I believe you can do this with Windows 8 as well. I also suspect that when you upgrade Hoster this option may automatically revert to Normal so it will be worth checking after upgrading.

Good Luck

Albert

Re: Windows 8/8.1 Hoster Tip

Hi Again

I have just found out that the setting reverts as soon as you shut down Hoster so you will need to do this every time you run Hoster. If anyone out there knows how to make this change stick I would Love to know.

Re: Windows 8/8.1 Hoster Tip

Albert,
It is not recommended to run at teal time for the thread priorities. This can cause other issues, but so you know you can make this change in Hoster.

If you do it this way it will stay as you set it. Open Video Hoster, click on the Tools Menu\Audio Controls. There is a setting for display and audio, change the priorities here. I would try Above Normal forst to see if that works for you. Set both the audio and display to the same.
