Ratio, just whats best?

With new CD's just what is the best ratio to set it at when importing? My old beat up CD's I set at 96, with new CD's I used 128. Now I have new SC CD's, what do you recommend?

Re: Ratio, just whats best?

The higher the better for best sound quality - I use 192 always. Lower number like 128 & 96 should only be used if you have something like an 80gb hard drive. I actually wish Hoster had 320 capability but that is the limitation of the WMA based files that cannot go any higher than 192.

The lower the number the worse the sound will be.

Re: Ratio, just whats best?

You need to actually set it via the import CD tracks screen in the lower left. That will carry over to the import HD tracks screen. So if that one is stuck on 96, that is what it is set to in the import CD tracks section.

Are you refering to 96 tracks each disc or per disc id, Hoster should import upto 99 tracks per Disc ID.

If you are saying it only importing 96 tracks of a disc then I think that could be a limitation of this type of disc.
I wrote in another thread on this that Hoster tries writing back to the CD with a text file of the imported disc's. Then on my test gave an error although it still imported the tracks as KMA I was only testing it with 20 tracks so it may be that as it can't wright the text file it wont import more.
If that is the case then I think your only option is to copy all the files to your hard drive first then import them as Kmh preferably, if you want to stick with the kma format then after you have the kma files imported delete the original copied mp3+g tracks.

Re: Ratio, just whats best?

I believe he is referring to ripping ratio to kma - not how many songs per id. ie 96k, 128k, 160k, 192k.

I just looked into this, it seems if you set the import ratio in the CD imports dialog to any thing it will then keep that setting when importing from the index HD files dialog.
