Question Songverter Stops always when working on song 508

Hello everybody!
I just bought Songverter yesterday. I have 4000 kma karaoke songs that I want to convert to ZIP karaoke files. My problem is when SOFTWARE is exactly working on song number 508 software stops.

I see a window that it say:
Music file converter has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience. "send or not send report"

I have repeated same process 3 times continuing with the rest of songs and same thing software STOPS on file number 508.

If you question is? when it stops is the same file??? THE ANSWER IS NO.
So until now I have converted only 1500 songs closing the software and start it again 3 times. I am tired and confused.

No answer has been found for this as yet. MTU will have to look for the reason why when they get a chance. So you will just have to keep plugging away 508 at a time. I would suggest trying to do 500 at a time to keep the program from erroring out.
The real question in my mind is why are you converting 4,000 KMA files to ZIP ( I am guessing to MP3+G ZIP)? This is going from the best compressed format to the worst. You would be much better off to go from the original CDGs to MP3+G than going from compression to compression.

fixed

dont know exactly which of the 2 things i did fixed it, but they worked. could redo steps but am far too lazy to do that, this email is enough. make sure the "lame_enc.dll" file (that you unzipped from the original download) is then cut and pasted to your c:\windows\system32 folder. secondly, dont use vista. i have 2 computers one with the other good ol home PC with XP. i converted all 10,000 songs in one shot-done

Don't feel bad on a good day Vista stops at 138 for me when going from mp3 to wma. I have had it do as much as 600 in one shot. Most often it locks up at 138. I have found that the best bet is not to have the auto delete on and transfer to a different file. Using it on an outboard hard drive seems to be a task also.

I do wish I had not bought a vista pc. The Gates Mafia Inc does have a Vista patch out. I've loaded into the machine I am on at the moment. It seemed to help as my pc used to crash daily. Now the only thing that went wrong since was I lost all my audio. Solved problem with geek squad support taking over my pc and deleting and reloading some drivers. Got my Vista fingers up and crossed.

Windows XP, Pentium4 2.4G, Running conversion from .kma to mp3+g zip.
Had it crashing after 128 files on XP. Everytime 128 files.
Found my problem was "mmswitch.ax" , which was a codex located in system32 folder. Ran "regsvr32 /u mmswitch.ax", then changed name to mmswitch32.bak. Restarted windows and now it keeps on going!
mmswitch32.ax also causes windows media player to crash intermittently.

We just released version 1.22 that does fix some crash issues with converting .kma files to MP3+G. They were mainly under Windows Vista and Windows 7 that I had found the problem with.

You can download it from here.

Question Re: Songverter Stops

Hi Mtu & Users

I have just purchased Songverter looked up this forum after having troble getting past 930 files from .Kma to Mp3 Karaoke files

I noticed this post is quite old but i have the latest version of Songverter ( i think) and as files were being converted it stopped at 930 with a window coming up saying an error has occurred & i can close the program or go online to check for solution to the problem...Its an "AppCrash", i guess that means an Application Crash....Has there been any resolve to this problem?

Btw, i run on Windows7 with new laptop & latest specs ( quad core) etc

Kind Regards
Mike

This original problem was fixed in version 1.22 for a stoppage at about 500 files. This was a problem with Vista and Win 7 that was stopping it at that point. No one has reported any more problems from this.
Did you check for a bad file log to see if anything got listed? Have you started it up again to see if it gets farther than 930? I don't mean to start from beginning but start at next song that needs converting?

Re: Songverter Stops

Hi Dale

Thanx very much for your response

When it errors its not giving a bad file log at all...& say for instance if i am doing 100 .kma's and it gets too 98 it fails the whole 100 and not converted, so what i've been doing is going into that 100.... ten or so at a time and finding the versinity of the actual file that causes it to error, unfortunately what it means is i am skipping approx 10 songs, eg, if i do for example file named "CBEP4235-01" to "CBEP4235-10" but somewhere inbetween 1 & 10 is the offending file i delete the whole 10 because it would take way too log to find the exact file

Isn't Songverter supposed to carry on past "BadFiles", but list them as a log?

Looking Forward To Your Reply

Kind Regards
Mike

Songverter doesn't write all the files at once. It does one at a time. Reads it, converts it and writes it to disk. So it should only not write the offending file.
It will carry on in most cases as you saw with the demo. Some files may be bad enough though or bad in a critical area to make the program stop.

Hi Dale

Yes i understand it does one at a time because i've been sitting here infront of laptop for 6 to 7 hrs now watching to see if it errors, coz if it does i have to go back one step before i can continue
Well, its unfortunate that i have to do a couple hundred at a time instead of a couple thousand..just means i got a heap of wasted time coming up

Guess i got some really bad files that need to be weeded out which are causing Songverter to have a "AppCrash":(

Thanx for your help with this

Kind Regards
Mike

The above is not accurate. I have version 1.21 and use XP and it has always stopped at record 508. I don't use the program enough to justify additional financial investment so just put up with it. It's another one of
those "Fix" things that I think I should have gotten free. Maybe could have but like I said I don't use it or get onine that often so when I notice the problem it was too late. So I just use the 'limited' version in batches of 500.
