Re: Need help please answer my other thread someone

When you purchase a copy of hoster it allows you install it on 2 computers (second computer for back up) ! hoster is set up just like microsoft windows. even after you reformat your hard drive, when you go to register windows, it looks for your machine ID#. hoster works the same way ( i believe). so when you reformat and reinstall hoster, it looks for your machine ID#. if it doesnt match your old machine ID# then it thinks your installing it on a different computer !

it just seems to me your trying to install hoster on multiple computers and do not want to pay. MTU knows when your putting it on a different computer the minute you try and register the copy of hoster.

WHY WOULD YOU HAVE TO REFORMAT SO MANY TIMES ???

it use to only work if you had a USB to ethernet adapter. you could install hoster on multiple computers but you had to have the adapter to run the software. and beleive me it wasnt as cheap as it is now! before it was $459.00usd !!!! thats what i payed!

i like the new way better (machine ID#)!

Believe me i only have my laptop and my pc and have no need to install on anything else. I was told it was to do with the drivers you have in and the windows updates ,they all have to be the same as the first time you installed hoster. As for formatting ,i keep getting viruses and like to wipe the system and start afresh thats all.

thanks nath.

p.s. As for windows you can phone them to register after you have used all your go's up. Hoster you cannot.

Re: Need help please answer my other thread someone

you should always install all windows updates when reformatting before installing hoster. never use windows updates for video drivers!

ps: microsoft has no choice but to register your windows! MTU does.

Re: Need help please answer my other thread someone

But installing all windows updates cannot be right because what if a new update comes out ,the next time you go to re-install hoster it may not work if you have put all the windows updates in. You would have updates that were not originally in there. Do you see what i mean? Why could mtu not do it exactly the same way as microsoft do on the reg side of things?

thanks nath.

Re: Need help please answer my other thread someone

Nathan,
When you do Windows updates it changes nothing on hoster. I have done all the windows xp & win 2000 updates since last october, and hoster is still up and running fine.

For safety, If you get Norton Ghost 2003 and make a backup Image of your c: hard drive, then when you have a problem, you won't have to bother anyone about reseting anything. Everything Including windows will work without reformatting and re-installing all your programs. They will all be there ready to run.. and reimaging your hard drive takes less than 20 minutes as opposed to hours for reformatting and reloading.

I hope you get up and running. Good luck

If you make your living with your computer never ever use it on the internet (except to register the software) I don't even use it to download upgrades. I download to my home computer and then transfer it via a usb drive.

Re: Need help please answer my other thread someone

We discovered that reinstalling Windows (2000/XP) can change the Serial Number. This is part of our fingerprint so, along with other undisclosed reasons, this was creating a "new install" record.

We are working on this now. It has created a lot of demand on our support, which we respond to as soon as we discover what is wrong. We NEVER expected to find the Windows SN changing!!!!!

We deal with things as they become clear. We solve them as soon as we can.

If you run into a problem, we now have a new Registration and Download Problems Forum to post your problems in. This is the best way to get our attention to solve your problem when reinstalling doesn't work.

We STRONGLY RECOMMEND that everyone put ZoneAlarm Pro on your computer. This protects you when you go on the Internet.

If you use Windows Internet Explorer, NEVER click on a rotating Banner Ad on a page (MTU does not display any ads).

Some banner ads have viruses in them that can download all sorts of things to your computer. ZoneAlarm Anti Virus or Security Suite will block these. Get it and install it.

One thing I've found to be a lifesaver was stopping the use of Internet Explorer altogether and switching to Firefox from Mozilla. It's free and prevents about 98% of pop-ups and "spy ware".

I used to run Ad-Aware all the time and my average for a week of surfing the net was about 30-70 items found. After switching to Firefox I have gone up to 2 months without using Ad-Aware and when I did had under 7 items found.

The only time I use IE now is for sites that absolutely have to have it.
