I won't buy scdg's because of the fact if one gets cracked, or scratched, you are out much more than the 15.00 you have to pay now for a replacement. I dont see an over-abundance of kj's beating the door's down to buy them, or they wouldnt be still making cdg's.

Hoster was created as it is with the 99 track limit from the feedback of the thousands of hoster users. Maybe instead of being critical if you took a poll of the users who would like to change it to larger limit it could be done
Hi Gduns
Sounding critical was not my intention. I simply answered the questions that were posed.

I can see your point on the cdg opposed to scdg. I just look at it another way. Regular cdg's cost about .80 per track where scdg only cost about .02 per track and once you load them to hard drive and back them up, your done with them anyway.

Thanks
Kevin

Kevin, I have been there and just as frustrated as you with this particular situation. MTU has proposed a couple of solutions and I know one way or another they will come through but thiese kind of programming changes do not come over night. I don't know how you can say that they sold you a defective program because Hoster does work exactly as advertised.
Hi Gary
I didn't say the whole shebang is defective!! I just have copy of the product that has a bug or two. It could just be a corrupt dll file when the program unzipped.

2. The SCDG tracks were copied to HD using CDGFix and the structure is Disk ID_Track_Title_Artist.mp3 and I am using
(Define field order ingnore_track_title_artist)
As soon as you click on the add tracks button. the define field order seperators change from_ to_-_ so they have to be reset every time you load the next 99. Also the Brand box changes from *Custom assembly* to blank so that it has to be reset for every 99.
I don't have any mp3g's to test with at the moment but my guess would be that because your files are not providing a brand name (and Hoster does require one), and because you are telling Hoster to ignore the DiskId which Hoster could use to cross reference in order to aquire a Brand name on it's own, Hoster will ask for it for every new DiskId it comes across (the ones you provide: my disk 1, my disk 2 etc). From what I can tell, what you call a bug is more correctly a feature limitation.

I'm sure Hoster could be programmed to make the brand name persistant from one operation to the next but then that's going to upset those who intended to change brand names on their next operation but didn't get the reminder to do so, and then they'll be griping about having to reimport a bunch of songs because of a wrong brand name.

3. The book ID root does not change nor does it allow you to change it (it stays faded out). So what I ended up with is this.
15 folders containing all tracks from the SCDG's converted to .kma
So I do have all the tracks on the HD but the songbook will only see the first 99 tracks of each folder. IE. I end up with about 8400 .kma tracks but the songbook will only see about 1500 of them.
Not sure why the songbook would only show 1500. Does your database show the other 6900? Try rebuilding the database, as long as there isn't a problem with the other 6900, they should be in both the the database and in the songbook.

As I understand it now, I will have to redo all these tracks and will have to change the diskid for every 99 tracks IE. DiskID SCDG01-1 for the first 99 and SCDG01-02 for the next, please correct me if I am wrong.
You could do it that way although personal opinion is that it just complicates things. If you really want the diskids to be SCDG I would change the didkids to something like SCDG01A, SCDG01B. If you think you'll add more SCDG's later you might want to include the DK in the id as well (SCDGDK01A).

First of all we need to realize that standard CDG's are a thing of the past and have been for a while. Anyone who is serious about this is either using HD files for their shows (I used Microstudio to convert mine) or at least super cdg's if they havn't yet figured out that they can extract SCDG data with the proper software.
I and most (legal) KJ's I know would take exception to this view. First there are very few legal places to download from (only 2 places I'm aware of). CAVS will sell you most of the THM library and a few selct Chartbusters however the bit rate is only 128, a very poor choice for sound quality (for mp3), ZOOM sells them at 192 which is much better and a better quality brand to boot, but the selection is limited. I don't know the bit rate for SCDG but to squeeze 900 songs on one disk you know they had to compress the H*** out them, and their legal status at the moment is in question, and legally (quasi) only Chartbuster, THM, Music Meastro and a few lesser brands (couldn't find DK listed anywhere ) are available. Until they get the sound quality and selection improved purchasing CDG's will be the mainstay of my library.

Sam

Look at it this way... the royalties on a song in the USA varies from $0.11 to $0.27. Songs that cost you $0.02 or $0.20 apiece are ILLEGAL, and probably even $0.30 is ILLEGAL.

This has been the reason why MTU has refused to support SCDG discs in the past.

However, we are re-evaluating how we can provide a more efficient way to import these files that Hoster was not initially designed to import.

WHAT?
Are you telling me that these SCDG's are illegal!!!

Sweet Georgia Brown Magic Tracks Plus (About .08 cents per track)
Nutech Digital Karaoke Party Pak
Chartbuster Essential 450 Volumes 1, 2 & 3
Music Maestro Gold Pack Super
Top Hits Monthly, and this is just to mention a few.

I doubt that these companies are supplying bootleged tracks or trying to get away without paying royalties, I don't think so.

I think if you read his post with an open rather than a critical mind, you will understand the whole meaning behind what he said.
