Look in C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster. In that folder is a file named Hoster34.exe. Right click on it and create a shortcut to it, then move that to your desktop. That is Hoster 3.4.

Windows SP 3 for XP and Media Player 11. Issues...

Well I had reverted back to vs 3.2 and everything was running smoothly. The Windows XP SP3 came out and I installed it. Now none of the videos/audio play. I think it's a codec issue but i"m not sure and I don't know if there needs to be an updated to Media Player 11 since XP SP 3 comes out. So I'm trying to uninstall SP3 and go back to what I know works. Anyone else with these issues?

Hoster 4.1

Ok, here is my story and it has a happy ending.

I have 2 laptops. One is my business and home machine that I use daily. I also use it to test updated from MTU before loading them on my Sony Vail which is a bit older and slower, but a workhorse.

When I loaded 4.0 and 4.1 everything worked just fine on both machines. Then I loaded Service Pack 3 on my Acer (home machine) and I no longer got grahpics. So, I didn't update the Sony since it was working and I sucessfully made it thru a show, although there were two or three times that it locked up and went down. But it restarted ok and all was fine.

I spend hours and hours trying to debug my Acer and thru the help of the great folks here on the Forum, I went out and joined a driver community and reinstalled the driver for my Acer from sIs. That SOLVED THE ISSUE and I went ahead and loaded MS Service Pack 3 on my Sony. To my surprise, everything worked just fine!

It appears that some audio and video drivers that are original may not be compatible with the newest service pack. But now, not only do both machines run 4.02 but they are both considerable faster as well.

I would update media player via Windows Update, while at it, update anything else that is out there for your machine. Then, if no graphics, update your video card. I can send you a link if you need one, but just a google search will result in a ton of places where you can find the driver for your video card.

Good Luck...

Funny these are the things I was going to try tonight when I get home. Like you I have 2 machines. The main one I use for shows is the HP Pavillion Entertainment PC w/ 19 inch screen running XP. I develop on it as well. The backup is a compact presario.(however it has vista-yuk) but I only run hoster on it. Looks like I'll be using the Vista for shows until I can figure out what all updates the HP needs. I'm thinking it was Windows Media Player that needed the update and I haven't yet figured out my sound card, but I"m sure it needs updated to. I think I"ll have to find out what sound card and video card I use through the control panel right?

We are removing our use of WMP and IE for Lyrics. We expect to use it for the Marquee and Singers Names Display, but for Lyrics it's gone. It was blocking our getting events back that we must have for sync to music, and sync'ing the Preview and Show Displays.

We understand you need to get updated/new Video Codecs to play MP4/DVIX video files in the newer WMP11. There are some sites you can download them from, sorry I'm not into them right now. Maybe someone else can post them here.

It's always interesting to see that EVERY problem seems to be attributed to MTU always when a new release comes out. Change... is inevitable to have new features. Problems are also inevitable. However, we are now working intelligently from the past weeks of 4.01/4.02 shipping to remove all the problems we can. Some are under our control, and we will isolate you from Microsoft far more than we were. That's under our control, and it is happening this week.
