SOLVED (at least for me)
I installed Songverter 1.21 and magically all the zips are able to load in Microstudio with no errors. Curious indeed! When installing Songverter, I downloaded the recommended "lame.dll" file, and copied it to the Windows System folder. Could it have something to do with lame.dll not being in the Windows/System folder?

Possible, but have never seen this with Microstudio, but then I don't use zip or MP3 files that often. I also have Songverter installed on all of my machines. The Lame.dll is actually a required library file for playing MP3 files. Many players either include this in their installations.
