Besides, reseting your display is easier. Just right click on empty spasce on your desktop, look for either properties or your video card name. Click on this and set your display to 640 x 480. Open Hoster, open up the offending window, slide it up to the top left, then reset your display settings.
It sounds easy... the only problem is - when I try to adjust the screen resolution - I have just two options 1024 x 768 (as it is now) & 800 x 600. I tried the later but it didn't help.

What kind of computer are you using with only those two resolutions?
In the Start Menu go to Programs/Accessories/System Tools -System Information. When it opens and lists the information on the Summary, copy and paste that information into a post here.

First thing I would do is check HP web site and see if they have any updates for that computer. I see the Bios is very old and I would guess that there should be newer video card drivers too. There should be some more resolutions with those two.
If you are considering upgrading your Hoster then you will need to get a newer computer as this one definately will not handle any version 4.
Here is the registry fix for the Hoster settings. Be very careful and make sure you do exactly what it says to do.

WARNING! DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! Be sure you follow this exactly. If you delete the wrong Registry Keys, Windows on your computer could be damaged, requiring it to be re-installed.
WARNING: If you do this under Hoster 4.0 and above it will be as if you have a brand new computer. You will lose your Singers Database and other items. Make sure you wish to take it back to a brand new install before you do this.
Fix: Delete Hoster's Persistence Registry Keys.
  1. Left click the Start Menu and click Run.
  2. Type in regedit and click OK or Open.
  3. Go to the very top of the Registry Editor. It you already see the Registry Keys expanded below, skip this step and go to the next step. Click the + beside My Computer.
  4. Click the + Beside HKEY_CURRENT_USER
  5. Click the + beside SOFTWARE
  6. Click the + beside Micro Technology Unlimited
  7. Click the + beside Hoster
  8. Click Default to select it. WARNING! Be VERY careful to have this exact location selected. If not and you proceed, you could damage your Windows installation, requiring it to be re-installed to fix it. BE VERY CAREFUL! With Default selected, press the Delete Key Click Yes when it asks you if you are sure.
  9. Click the X in the Top Right corner to close the Registry Editor.
  10. Open Hoster. It will be as if you started from scratch.

Thanks Dale. I will check the HP website first for upgrades & if all else fails I will reset it. As I say - I just use this computer for backup & to try new songs without having to set up my laptop & drivers everytime. That way I can test things without breaking the one that matters. I know this one is extemely old hence I have been holding back on upgrading to 4+ until I have the funds to update all of my gear.

Do not do this!! This is very dangerous.
Billy doing this you can end up setting it to a resolution that the computer cannot handle and the only way to recover is boot to Safe Mode. This is never a good idea.

Dale

try this, i'm not sure if this will work,

1.right click on an empty space of your screen
2.click on properties,
3. click on setting
4. click on advanced
5. click on adapter
6. at the bottom left corner click on " List all models "
this will give you all the resolutions" you just have to find which one will work for you

It's funny that billyo brought this up. Normally, you don't even have the choice if your screen is properly recognized by Windows. Even if you do have the option, it always asks for a confirmation or it will reset to the original size. HOWEVER, just last night, I lost the power supply on my desktop PC and had to hook up my older monitor. It will only go to 1024x768, but my settings were set higher. I did, in fact, have to boot to safe mode to change the resolution back. Other than that, I have never had one iota of problems setting different resolutions on many, many different computers.

everytime i had to change a resolution all i see was like you said a confirmation, and it' will start the countdown, but i havent seen a warning, the only thing i see was by changing the resolution i need to re-start the comp./laptop for the changes to take effect..and i have never had a problem..like i said i probably just got lucky..

It actually depends on how the choices are set. You can have it not change until you reboot, apply now, or ask you if it is changing resolutions. I too have had to do as Mark did of going into Safe Mode to reset it. If you are not that computer savvy as some here aren't then instead of thinking it through they panic and blame you for breaking their computer.
Either kjunkies has a very old laptop with very low resolutions or his video drivers have failed and all he is getting is "Standard" VGA.
