I'm still looking for Aero Theme on my Vista Home Premium since last october, i haven't found it yet.
As I said at the beginning, I don't know about the Aero settings. I do not have Vista in any version thank goodness so I do not know anything about Vista specific settings.
you should be able to find it using the list in the link however as far as the Transparency part, Admin may be wrong that Home Premium has this transparency setting. At least that is what I am getting from all the posts in here.

1. right click on deskstop & choose personalize
2.click the " windows color and appearance link", and
on the next screen
3. click the link near the bottom for " open classic appearance properties for more color option"
4. you should be able to disable aero all together by choosing " window vista basic "

It's not in your version of Vista because the NVIDIA GeForce 8200M is a value line, shared memory card and is not capable of displaying Aero. The other thing I would suggest is 16 bit color if you haven't already done so. If the problem persists, post back and there are a few more "tricks up my sleeve"

I, too, am running 16-bit color as recommended. I did boot it up and run a few songs through several times yesterday after the driver update, and it's really looking promising - I haven't seen the issue yet (knock on wood).

Mark, thanks for this tip. I've added it to our "Vista upgrades" page as a note to possibly avoid this question in the future by those with the 8200.

I assume by "value line" you mean heapy cheapy since it also shares memor versus has its own.

Yep, I was just being nice. It seems that any notebook less than a grand nowadays has a shared memory card in it. Some, at least, have the option of an upgrade but most are soldered on.

Yup, last two laptops were 1200 to 1400 dollars and both had shared cards. But was lucky on one, it had no issues with video mixing or hoster lyrics/sync etc.
