help with hosterlite

i have a pavillion dv6208nr notebook have used hoster for years here is my recent problem when i start hosterlite 4.08 i get the following message

This computer has 1469 MB of RAM memory.
This version of Hoster recommends at least 1500 MB RAM for Windows
Vista. Thus, it may not run reliably on this computer as is.
OPTION #1: Click the "Run 3.40" button to run Hoster 3.40,
which will run better with low RAM.
OPTION #2: Install at least 1500 MB RAM, then Hoster will run
reliably. You can click "Continue" to try to run, or
"Cancel" to close Hoster.
OPTION #3: If you can't add more RAM, but you have another
computer with enough RAM, copy this URL to your browser
for instructions on how to move Hoster to that computer:
http://www.mtu.com/support/how-to-move-registration.htm

when i click run 3.40 hoster closes won't start 3.40 if i continue the songs skip i am running vista home my cpu says i have 1500 mb ram but surely some is being used by video as notebook has no indepent video ram also hp says i can only upgrade to 2 gig ram

what can i do short of buying a new notebook will 4.08 run on 2 gig ram or should i go back to hoster lite 4.6 have all updates thanks in advance

If you look in the folder that you downloaded Hoster 4.08 to you should see another executable program in the same folder called Hoster 34.exe click this. This is basically 3.21a so if you already have that it would be no different.

It sounds to me more like your video card may not be up to scratch as I think you need 128mb on board graphics not shared. So check this by right clicking a blank area of your screen from the box click personalize then display settings then advanced settings, there should see dedicated video memory x amount. it needs to be 128mb or more.
The amount of difference in your Ram 1469mb instead of 1500mb is so minimal should not notice.

I take it you have followed all the vista recomendations in the manual

Hoster34.exe should be located in C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster if it is included. I don't know if it is or not. You will have to create your own desktop shortcut to it if you want to use it.
You are at the minimum for running Vista and Hoster on that laptop but there are somethings that you can do to help.
Did you do all the things you need to do to Vista to get Hoster to behave that are listed here?
http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster/v...de-hoster4.htm The link to this page is also listed in your manual as well as in the installation setup program.
The second thing is make sure nothing else is running in the background that isn't needed like your anti-virus/anti-spyware program(s).
There is a very helpful list located here http://www.blackviper.com/ at this website that will help you to close down some unecessary processes that are running thanks to Vista. Closing some or all of these will help free up enough memory.
On laptops the video card gets a shared portion of the memory, so if too many things are using up the memory then your play is the one to suffer.

I re read your first post and noted that you have no dedicated video ram. I could not say if adding the extra memory would be enough. Perhaps someone else will have the answer.

Roy.

Hey Ray,
Because MTU provides us with such great programs for working with karaoke files and hosting a karaoke show, we are more that happy to pitch in and help anybody who uses their products. This frees up the very few employees that MTU has to better their programs whicn in turn benifits us. It's a symbiotic relationship. we all come out winners.

I'm glad everybody got you going, thanks guys!

Jim
