LCD Monitor Issue

I'm posting this for Mikez111.

I have an LCD TV with s vid RCA, and component vid inputs. I went straight to the tv using just the s vid cable and then using an s vid to RCA converter. I can see the second monitor running but its all garbled up. like the old tvs with vertical and horizontal hold adjustments. One wierd thing.. If when using the RCA converter, I put the RCA jack into the blue component video input, I can see the second monitor screen clearly, but only in black and white. Also, when I run Hoster on the second monitor, the marquee is seen, but the words to the song are missing. The computer monitor works fine, words and all. I cant get color to show in any arrangement I tried. I did update the driver but had to do it through HP. Nvidia wont let me download from their site. Any ideas?

I don't use an LCD monitor, yet. I'm hoping some of you guys who do can help Mike out.

This is easy Jim. His signal strength is way too weak probably because of long cables or cheap ones that have a bad signal loss. I have had this one happen to me. Radio Shack has a small distribution box that will take one input, amplify it and send it to 1- 4 TVs. I use an S-Video to RCA cable to take my signal to my mixer (has video in and out so I can switch devices) then RCA to Video amplifier/distribution box then have 2 RCAs going out to 2 TVs. One is LCD and the other a large older flat screen rear projection (belongs to the club). This solved all my sync and picture problems.

I am sure Dale is correct on this, but I have one thing to add. There is a setting in the NVidia control panel to use Video Player or NVidia for color management. My laptop will show black and white with Windows selected, but works fine with NVidia selected. It is in Nvidia control panel/Video & Television/Adjust video color settings. Under # 2, select with the Nvidia settings

I tried Dales fix but the new s vid cable and amplifier produced the exact same result.
The vga out works great but I don't have vga inputs on my mixer board. Just rca.
I will try Marks advice tonight.

Have you tried using s-video out of your computer straight in to a conventional TV s-video in ?
or if no s-video in, s-video to composite converter.

If so, does that show the same effect ?

Why I ask is I am trying to see if the problem is on your computer end or LCD.

How much of an @#Q$$#& can I be? My s-video out has the seven pin configuration. Ive been trying to use a four pin s-video cable. Ive got a seven pin on order and will let everyone know how foolish I was when it works...

you can get a 7 pin s-video cable to rca from www.svideo.com and you can get it from 3ft to 6ft...

I did order from svideo.com As of today, my order is on the way and should be here by Monday... Thats a good thing cause I have two shows to do next weekend. The good thing is that I know I can rely on my vga to work until I get a good fix...

Im the new guy so tips are appreciated... I mean words of wisdom and ideas how to be better at what I attempting to do.

Well, it would apear that my s video out is bad. thats the only conclusion I come to. I got my new cables and they produced the same results... Looks like I have to go with my vga out for now.

So the next question is.... what laptop do I get?$?$?$

I picked a bad week to stop sniffin glue!!! (joke)

you can get a pc to tv converter (not to be confused with tv to pc converter ) this has a vga to rca/s-video out..you can get it form www.eitech.com , you can connect your laptops vga ( out )to the vga (in ) of the converter and use either the rca or the s-video (out ) of the converter to the tv/lcd..

Mike, I feel your pain. Just something to try. In the video settings, switch the primary/secondary display. See if this changes anything. Also, try switching the position of the display to the left/right. Don't ask me why this sometimes works, I just have had success with it in the past.

Does it work with a regular TV (non-LCD)?
Are you going from the SVideo to Composite RCA jacks (3) or to a single Video RCA jack?

I have one tv that is non lcd but no s video input. Im going to try dual vga tonight.

Hey Mike,
I think Dale is going to suggest that you use an S-Video to RCA adapter. Is this what you tried in post #1?

I tried that and also ordered new cables. The s video out must have issues, or there is a setting thats jacked up. Remember, I can see the image on the lcd screen, but its wavers around and very unclear. Works well with vga out tho.
