okay, duh me. I'm not sure... I'll check it out when I do the next 'service' on it - the thing lives in a plastic crate in my van. For now I'll just restart Hoster and see if we can avoid the problem.

I hope you don't keep it in your van during the summer months. The excess heat in a closed vehicle is not good for it.

No, I don't leave it out there in the heat or the extreme cold. We live in the land of 45 degrees for 6 mos of the year - October through April it seems (Seattle area). I do bring it in with weather extremes, and when I have enough new music to load to make it worth the hassle. I JUST did a major music upload so it'll be a while before I set it up again. I type all day and night for a living and host 3 nights a week so I'm not into making extra work for myself most days...

I just thought I'd ask if anyone else had experienced this phenomenon or whether it was something peculiar to my computer or situation somehow. I appreciate your responses. Wish I knew the answer to your question about RAM. BTW, this never occurred with previous releases of Hoster...

Checking to see how much ram you have is easy. The next time you are at the computer click on the "Start" button then right click on "My Computer" and click on "Properties". Here you can see how much RAM you have installed. It's in the bottom right hand corner. You should have at least 2.00 GB installed (3.00 GB is better ) for Hoster 4.08 to run smoothly.

I hope this helps.

Jim

Thanks Jim - now you made me feel all guilty about not knowing and I guess tomorrow I'll have to drag the thing in and check it out. Times like this I wish I used a lappy. SO much easier to move around. That'll be my next move....

Oh no Karen, I don't use a laptop because they are harder to work on than a shuttle or a tower. I personally think you are doing the smart thing by using a shuttle. (No offense to those who use laptops. )

I think it's cold when it get's below 60 degrees. I would not do well in Seattle. I've been living with the Palm Trees and the Spanish Moss too long. Down here in the deep south I always take my computer inside after a gig. My Black Honda CRV sits in the sun all day (no garage) and gets too hot. I left my computer in the car one summer day years ago by accident and my motherboard alert popped up as the computer was booting up telling me that it was too hot. As it ran, it cooled down and was fine.

Unhappy

I spent 12 years in southern Cal - in Santa Barbara, the most beautiful city in California. I have NO idea why I left there ... LOL. Seattle is miserable except for about 5 mos....and today is April 1 and seriously, we might hit 50 today. Woohooo.... so no worries about computer getting too hot ...

That was why I said during the summer The rest of the year I know you have no worry about it. Like Jim I live in an area of Texas that we feel cold when it gets below 60. What I like about this area is we have about a month of "winter" and the rest of the year is nice.

Just finished my Thurs show - no uploaded cdgs, no skips. Will check RAM tomorrow before my show - I had so many people tonight I hit the ground running and totally forgot to check.
