Hoster 4.08 problems??

I just downloaded the upgrade (4.08) and noticed that the volume bar is gone....and in the first song, the graphics match perfectly, but every song after that, they seem to fall behind a little more each song. After 5 or 6 songs, I have to shut down the hoster program and restart it again.....same thing, first song is good and the rest fall behind....any ideas??

Volume bar is gone because it would not work with Vista correctly. You will have to use the Windows Volume control. It is recommended that you set it to full anyway, and use your Amplifier/Mixer volume control to adjust volume.
Laptop or desktop computer?
XP or Vista?
Did you do all the change requirements for 4.08 (first page of Hoster install gives the link for your operating system to the list)?
Are you running any other programs at the same time?

Laptop...Vista, 2.0ghtz, 4gig ram, 80 gig of HD left
--didn't do any of the requirements because I just figured they were the same as the last version since this was a small upgrade.
---No other programs run when I'm doing a show.
It just bothers me how the first song works and the ones after don't....maybe there is something different in the reccomended changes??

I would certainly check the list.

Actually this was not a "small" upgrade. There were a lot of things fixed. The small about it might be that there is very little visual change and new features.
When was the last time you checked for "Custom" updates from Microsoft? If it has been a while I would check to make sure they were done. Hardware updates from them are not recommended though.
There are several things that will cause sync problems.
Laptops use "shared" memory and if the laptop doesn't have enough RAM then this can cause problems. Vista is a real memory hog, so it is recommended you have about 2MB. One thing you can do is use this site's checklist for Vista to turn off unecessary processes.

Another possible cause is heat though in your case I would say this isn't it. Laptops have one small fan to draw heat out of the system. When this fan gets dirty it does not function as well as when it is clean. If this still isn't enough there are cooling pads with fans that can help boost the cooling.

There is now lyrics sync adjustment. From the Tools tab/options at the bottom of this window is an option to + or - the lyrics.

Probably wont correct your problem as yours is a progressive out of sync but worth a try.

Roy.

I've had a sync issue with 4.xx because of my graphics card video memory, but restarting the first song before starting show, is the work around that worked prior to 4.08. With the latest upgrade, I can reset the first song and all is ok! But if I try to adjust the volume using the Windows volume control while a song is playing, its will glitch, pronounced drop out, and throw the lyrics out of sync. I have reverted back to 4.06 to use the Hoster volume control, and the Windows volume control. This allows me to adjust the music volume and/or the microphone volume from the computer, without changing the mixer settings. The singer song database refresh rate, was the main feature that 4.08 allowed, that I liked. I am stable again, and will upgrade the laptop when it poops out! LOL

Using XP with only 64mb of video memory.

Rikki do you run your microphones through the laptop? I run mine through the mixer and straight to the amp from there.

Marklwood just had this same problem last night. Brought the laptop home and checked it out and found out he had bad bearings in the internal fan. The fan kept changing speed and was making a whining noise. This would cause a rapid heat build up as well as an excessive amount of power draw from the fan. A dirty fan could cause this to happen as well. Try cleaning it. Then listen to it to see if it is making excessive noise and replace if it is. If it isn't then the cleaning may have fixed its problem.

Running the microphones through the mixer, and then to the Bose PAS L1 system. I guess it is just stretching the available resources too thin, using 4.08. Nothing running in background that I can think of to delete in order to help underpowered laptop. I will run this way until I can get a little help from my local geek! Thanks!
