![]() I use Hoster in the shows that i do, not for karaoke. the question i have is that i have 2 external hard drives, and 2 laptops that i use in my shows. My wife uses 1 , and i use 1. We each have numerous play list files in each laptop. Her external HD is a copy of my external HD, when i had appox. 54,000 songs. Since then i have added appox. 20,000 more songs to my external HD. How can i add these songs to her HD with out effecting her existing playlist files? The additional 20,000 songs have been imported into Hoster on my laptop and are KMA files. Both laptops are using Hoster 3320. Thank in dvance for any help you can dive me.

Copy the 20,000 KMA files to her external drive and rebuild the database. This should not effect her playlists at all as long as they were identical (same bookids) prior to you adding the additional files. When you rebuild the database it will add the new bookids for the additional song files. If she wants to use any of the new ones then she will have to add them to the playlists and resave them.

What i had in mind to do, since i don't know how i would segragate the additional 20,000 songs on my HD, was to re format her HD , and the copy mine onto hers, then rebuild her song data base. since her existing songs are a copy of my HD (except the additional 2,0000). would that work without affecting her playlist?

Yes. Once the songs are imported into Hoster the BookID for each is set in stone, so to speak. The BookID is added to the header of each file. So if you move the files or copy the files the BookID goes with it to the new location. Since you are not changing the location of any of her existing files (same drive and folder) then her playlist will be fine.
I do what you are talking about all the time, because we use one computer just for importing then copy them to show computers. Many times rather than trying to pick out which ones to copy I will just copy the whole folder and tell Windows to overwrite all the ones there. Hope you have a long time to do this....lets see 54,000 + 20,000....my guess is about 6 hours, depending on the drive speed. ![]() ![]()
