Import Problen Hoster 4.6a

What’s going on with the import part of Hoster 4.6a is not working correctly.

I’m trying to re-import my CB Essential 450 1 thru 6 Disc after fixing the names, trk # ect.

Saved each 450 song disc on six folders CBS02, CBS02-1, CBS02-2 CBS02-3, CBS02-4, CBS02-100 first 4 folders with 99 files 5 with 50 files and 6th with 4 files.

I selected files into Hoster File List Window and disc # CBS02-1 doesn’t show the Disc # in the DiscID box. (Just (1) Not CBS02-1

So I try to put it in manually in the DiscID box with great difficulty because the box is trying to give me a number already in the system after fighting with this for a while I finally get it to stick to the CBS02-1 #.

Then I go to the Disc Brand box and select Chartbuster from the list, then the DiscID number changes to a number I didn't put in, and is not the number I’m trying to import.

So I go back to fighting with the DiscID box till it sticks to the number CBS02-1 I want.

Now I ‘m ready to finally press the add files button so I press the button and the files finally populate the Track List window and I see the status reads ready.

After all that fighting now I just have one more step.

It’s It's getting kind of scary, but here go’s I press the Next BookID button to generate a number and the DiscID CBS02-1 changes to 163 and the status turns to imported.

I go back to the DiscID box and go on fighting till I get the CBS02-1 # to stick again then I see that the status window indicates ready again, but the BookID Box has one zero init and I need to generate a BookID #.

So I close my eyes and press the Next BookID button and I finally get the program to generate a number for CBS02-1 Disc.

Now finally I press the Import Files button and it starts the process of importing my 99 files for disc CBS02-1.

It shouldn’t be this difficult to import into Hoster I spent 5 hours just on this.

I’m importing to my external drive E:\ where all my files are and they all work.

No I'm not using pista, I mean Vista (XPpro)

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Thanks
Joe….

I can confirm this exact thing happened to me in 4.02. None of the other beta testers had this problem and no other customer has ever reported it, so i've assumed it was problems with my computer. I usually import through 3.4 so I haven't noticed it as of late.

As to why it's happenning: If it's not a bug, it's a problem withthe way the computers are configured Don't know. But 3.4 does not have these problems.

Hi mindonstrike

Thanks for you’re reply

Then this has to be a bug within Hoster program I’ve imported to my internal drive and didn’t have this problem.

I have more then enough resources available in my less then 1 year old computer and use it regularly on all my gig with no problem.

I hope MTU looks into this and fix it since I transferred all my song, Karaoke and video files to my external drive.

Once the files are in the external drive everything works normally.

Transferring files to you’re external drive is not the problem it’s importing to the external drive that seems to cause problems within Hoster.

Thanks

Joe...

This happened with me on my desktops. No external drives were involved in my case.

What I noticed is that it seems to omly effect disc compellations and not single disc entries.

Hope MTU will look into this.

Thanks for the input

I'm not setup at the moment to double check this but as I recall the problem I had with getting the discid to "stick" was occuring with any discid that was not in the bucket or in your database. Hoster wouldn't know the difference between a discid that was a compilation and a discid that was for a discid not yet in the system.

I don't recall if it was strictly a HD import thing or if it affected cdg disc imports as well.

After my gig tonite I'll try and take another look at this.

The fact that you and I are the only people having problems with this, will probably make it a low priority to look at especially if MTU can't recreate it on their computers. In the mean time 3.4 that comes bundled with the 4.xx has none of these issues.
