Rick,
I figured you started with songs sometimes and without songs others (like me), it was just a thought.

I think you will find that 4.06 is better overall than 4.05. I just click on a shourtcut to Hoster in the area next to my Start button, wait for 4.06 to load then start working with it. I don't use any start/restart procedure.

As far as I know Rick, you are the only person who has reported that Hoster 4.XX runs the first song out of sync everytime on XP.

Of course, get all of the Windows Custom Updates....bla ba bla. Install 4.06, use the old player and run it for a day or two. Everytime I upgrade to a new version of Hoster, I set up a five hour test playlist in auto mode and just let it run. Maybe this lets Hoster adjust to my system. Just another thought. I set it up where the songs stay on the "Test" playlist. When the playlist stops I just reastart Hoster to run it again for another five hours.

If you find that you have to run your MUX videos in 3.40 (you should be able to run them in 4.06 with the old player), be sure to open 4.06 first. They will run side by side, with both open at the same time. Just minimize the one you are not using.

Jim

Jim,

It's got to be a video card issue. It's only on my show computer that I get the out of sync issue, so I'll check for updates and driver changes that may be affecting that card, and see if I overlooked something!

Thanks Again!

Jim, you are right; we haven't heard any sync problems on XP.

Jim, I think your nuts! But then I'm just the tired ol' Pres up since 12:48AM (yawn).

I don't know how Hoster would "adjust" to a system. That implies "learning" and the type of code that can "self modify" is today called a VIRUS! We don't have any files that could do what you are implying.

I think I understand where you are coming from; Hoster has a problem, you run it several times on the computer, and Hoster no longer has a problem.

I'd have to say there is something about the computer's Windows Registry that may be changing.

I'd run a Registry Cleaner program. I'm starting to think we should make a standard FAQ about this, and provide a link to a free cleaner program that we all know and trust will do the job.

Rick, please post back here what you discover. "Sync" problem reports are the kiss of death, and we don't thinki there is anything else we can do to preven this.

One other question, please tell us about your:

Processor Type (Intel/AMD, Celeron, Duron, P4, Core2Duo, etc.):
Processor Speed:
RAM:
Video RAM:

We have found that AMD processors can't do the same math that Intel's do cause Intel has a patent that AMD can't circumvent.

We also are starting to think that you may need at least a 2GB processor to run 4.0x. Don't know yet, and your stats will help us understand this more. For example, if you have a 1GB Celeron, that may be the problem.

Bryan (MTUSUPPORT) has identified that some of the cheaper HP laptops coming out now with Celerons just don't have the Umpft to do the job.

What are you guys still doing up? I'm in Arizona and it's already 2 AM, so Go To Bed.

Show Computer was put together by employee of MTU in 2004. It's a Compal DCY30-Intel P4- 2.8 ghz- 1.5 g ram. I'll have to look and find how much video ram it has, as that or the video card/drivers may be where I am getting the sync problem. At least that is where I am going to start!

Will check it later after a little shut-eye, and report back to you!

Thanks!

OK guys & girls,
My show computer has 64 mb of video memory. Its a Radeon ATI 9100. Guess that may be under the recommended amount. I will look into purchase of another card and see if it will solve my sync issue.

Rikki - Yep, I would say that is way to small to function well.

Jim - We was just poking fun at ya! You do a good job and a lot of people have been helped.

Registry Cleaners are great for professionals, but I would be afraid that a lot of the less informed may end up deleting things that are necessary. Any time you mess with the registry you need to know what you are deleting just to make sure you don't mess it up.

Thanks Dale,
Well you guys only have to put up with my "madness" every now and then, I have to deal with 24/7. (Oh and let's not forget about my wife, she has to live with with "Madjim" ) I appreciate you tolerating me and hope that my "redneck explainations" don't add to the confusion. I'm a very experienced computer user (audio recording and video production), not a programer or even a tech support guy, just a user. (I did learn learn enought aboiut HTML and CGI to run madjimsplace.com which is now madjim.com.)

I've noticed that on every one of the ten or more computers I've had over the years that when new programs are added to the system, Windows SEEMS to adjust to the program load so to speak. Things like alocating memory and the such (again I'm just a user).

In my post to Rick I said "Maybe this lets Hoster adjust to my system". I started the statment with maybe because I'm not a programer and really don't know what's going on. I only know what I see and that's what I try to explain. It was late when I typed this but I wanted help Rick. I see now I should have said "Maybe this lets WINDOWS adjust to HOSTER", this may have made more sense.

Admin, I'm gald you could see through my "backwoods explaination" for your definition was right on the money. You understood what I ment even though what I said may have spun your head around.

I have let Hoster 4.XX run for hours on every computer I put it on. I've always had success with Hoster 4.XX so anything I so that seems to work, I share with my fellow entertainers/Hoster users. As I learn more, my explanations will become more accurate.

Thanks again for dealing with the "madness"!

Jim
