did what you said

I did what you said I unzipped the file, 1 mp3s and one cdg file. I went to K-oke tab and opened the unzipped file. Only the mp3 file showed up at this point..because of the extension. I click on it to open it loaded in my play list and played. So now if I want to import these files what is going to ahve to be done? Thanks Mark |

One other thing
While I was importing the zip files in the begining before I originally started my posts....I was noticing that hoster/vista were replacing the impoted file to a disc number that was already being used...So I went to the folder and these discs were missing....so I went to the xp computer and checked the files and they were still intacted...I noticed in knowledge base that vista sometime hides/deletes files???

MrMark -
Some of your questions are explained, in detail, in the Manual, saving a lot of space here on the Forum, especially about Vista. Yes, it's a lot of reading, but in the long run it will save you a lot of headaches. Believe me, we all understand your frustration (been there, done that) ![]() Have you tried using "Songverter" to convert your Zip files to mp3G or bin format before importing to Hoster? When first learning about zip files to save space in order to save my old CDGs on my hard drive, I did not understand that all zip programs are not created equal. I discovered that the compression ratio varies depending on the program that was used. So, I had the same problem when first importing zips into Hoster. It's an extra step & yes it is time consuming. However, once I used Sonverter first & then imported the converted files into Hoster, I got cleaner more useable kma song files (good graphics, etc.). I hope this helps! ![]() |

![]() P.S. I recommend converting to either mp3G or bin format prior to importing into Hoster. (MP3G is the most usable format that can be used by other programs, just in case you've been testing others also.) HOSTER IS THE BEST!!!!! ![]() Last edited by Skybird74; October 15th, 2008 at 12:33 PM. |

Your best bet in this case since these are normal MP3+G files taht are zipped is to use Songverter to convert them from MP3G Zipped to MP3G. This means all Songverter will do in this case is extract the files from the zip. Since taking one song, unzipping it, and temporarily importing it with the K-oke button worked then I would say that if you were to use Songverter and do a few disks worth and re-import them from those that they should work too. If that works then go ahead with the rest of them. Quote:
Vista will only hide files if you put them in locations that it does not like, such as in the Program Files area or the Documents and Settings area.

[quote=ddouglass;84032]To answer your question, that everyone seems to be skipping over. The zip file contains two files, a MP3 file and a CDG file. The problem with zip files is there are many different ways that the zipping programs use to compress and rewrite the files you are zipping. Even though Hoster has been worked and reworked to accommodate all of the different formats MTU knew about. However they could not get them all into Hoster which is why some people run into problems with them.

Mark, I did ask him about this. I do not know whether he means DiskID or BookID which would be two totally different problems.

Yeah, I was waiting for an answer to that too. I just don't want him to waste time if it is not a ZIP problem.

Thanks for all the help people, I am going to try songverter and see what happens, Apparently Vista doenst like my zip files or hoster doesnt have the correct conversion for it.....no problem....like I said in the past this is for home system only and not my dj system,,,so no hurry. As I mentioned earlier....When I went to import songs through hoster using Vista...as I was importing the import screen gives you the next number that the files will be found under....I coulndn't understand why I has discs missing in my folder under Vista...the same files on XP were still intact. Something happend through Vista when I copied these files to Vista? But all in all I really appreciate what everyone has said. I have learned much more by this. Keep up the good work
God Bless Mark |

After you copied those original files over did you rebuild the database? If not then that is why Hoster has used those BookIDs to import the files with.
