Cool, however, in my experience, I have found that `it doesn't always work; and I believe that if you have installed or updated other programs since, that those will be set back (undone) as well. That could be a night mare for some people, esp. me.

Yeah, I know but sometimes it just says "cannot restore to thhat point" for whatever reason. happened that day I had the blue screen of death.

On my XP - YES I show Microsoft.NET Framework. However, I still have 2.0 on it. I did all the updates on it also, but don't remember it even asking me to update .NET, soooooooo......go figure!

Vista comes with .net Framework 3.0 and WMP 11 already installed. These will not show in add/remove programs. Try running the Belarc Advisor (search internet for it). This is a free program and will tell you what is installed.

This is not changing any systems settings. It is allowing you to see the Windows programs in the Add/Remove Programs. XP has something similar where you can tell it to Show Updates.

IMPORTANT!

to see what .NET Framework is installed:

In XP:
1. Open Control Panel, from the Start Menu
2. Click Control panel
3. Click Add/Remove Programs
4. In the screen that appears, click the checkbox titled Show updates at the top center. If not, all updates are hidden.

In Vista:
1. Open Control Panel, from the Start Menu
2. Click on Classic View on the Left hand side of Control Panel
3. Double click on Programs and Features, which will show you the installed Programs on your computer
4. To see the Version of .net Framework, on the Left hand side click on "Turn Windows Features on or off". This will then bring up a Window that you can see the .net framework version.
5. If you wish to also see all the Windows Updates that are Installed, then you can Click on the View Installed Updates on the Left hand side also.


Hope this helps everyone determine what .NET Framework they have installed.

We are researching 3.5 version versus Hoster 4.04/4.05. So far, we haven't found any reason .NET 3.5 should cause the lyrics to be out of sync with the music.

I finally got it through my thick head followed instructions & discovered I have .NET 3.0 - that's what came with my HP Vista 6 months ago. And, I have never had a problem with any out-of-sync, display or video issues. I first installed 3.316, then 3.321 & now have 4.03. (Haven't tried 4.05 on Vista yet, but working good on my 6-year old XP)

The download of .netframework 3.5 that I got was SP1 for netframework 3.5 (Thanks Dale ) Since netframework 3.5 was not on my machine and it installed anyway, it crashed Hoster.

I only know that when I upgraded to SP1, it did not give me nor even ask if I wanted 3.5. So, I guess I was lucky.

It's SP1 FOR netframework 3.5

You are correct Sky, When I saw James was having problems and that he was running under netframework 3.5 which I didn't know was out, I tried to get a copy and see what happened in XP. Well I got SP1 for netframework 3.5 instead of netframework 3.5 and it crashed Hoster.

What did you have on your XP to begin with? I still have .NET 2.0 and wondering if I should upgrade to 3.0 I wonder if that affects whether videos play with or without vocals?

I've always had netframework 3.0 with Hoster 4. My advise is to update to 3.0 Sky. It can't hurt.

Be careful when you search for 3.0, at many of the sites the download says 3.0 but is actually 3.5. Just make sure you get the right one before loading it. Then make sure you download and install the update for 3.0
