Dale,
Am I missing something? Isn't that what I want, to make it permanent, so everytime I rebuild the underscores are gone?

Yes, which is why using edit, slow as it seems is the permanent way to make the changes. Sam's suggestion will work too in you follow what he said. As long as you use Hoster's edit to set the changes into the header of each file then rebuild will not change back to the underscores.

I'm confused..... bear with me. Are you saying open Songs.mdb, then eliminate the underscores in Songs, close access, open Hoster, Tools, Songs Database, Rebuild?
Then start all over again changing the underscores in Artist??? Or am I way off base?
