music skips while perfoming a search

I installed 4.0 on my show laptop, running xp sp3 with ie7 and media player 11. If i perform a search while a song is playing the song will begin to skip and continue to skip until I stop the song. I had to switch to 3.4 to do the show. I loaded 4.1, still does the same thing. I went thru the manual and made sure all the system stuff was set correctly. Ok, finally had a chance to replace the audiodriver. The problem remained. Went to System Properties, Advance, Performance settings, Advance. Found that “Processor scheduling”, was set to “Background services” Changed it to “Programs”. This Fixed 95% of the problem. Still drops out occasionally when I hit the search button.
Last night was the first time I was able to do an entire show with 4.01. I had to restart Hoster 4 times (Killed the process from Task Manager) Song counts down to 00 and locks the program up. This was annoying but did not affect the show very much, since the restart takes about 15 seconds. Most people didn’t notice. I like all the new features, but it’s still pretty quirky. I get lots of audio drop outs, some barely noticeable. Can’t trace the cause to one particular thing that causes them. I am sure that with each update the program will be more stable.
