music skips while perfoming a search

I installed 4.0 on my show laptop, running xp sp3 with ie7 and media player 11. If i perform a search while a song is playing the song will begin to skip and continue to skip until I stop the song. I had to switch to 3.4 to do the show. I loaded 4.1, still does the same thing. I went thru the manual and made sure all the system stuff was set correctly. The program works great until I try to perform a search. Can anyone think of anything I have not done

How much memory do you have on this laptop? The recommended for this version of Hoster is 1GB, but 2 would be better.

Is it when you open Search or when you have clicked the search button?

It starts when you hit the search button. The search will finish. but the skipping remains. The only way to stop is is to hit stop play. I would think that if it was a memory issue, that once the search was completed the music would return to normal.

How many songs do you have? If it is a huge amount that may be the problem and hopefully MTU can correct that by changing the priority for search. It might make the search take longer to do that but wouldn't interupt the music.

It does this on my 2 XP Shuttles so I think it's more than just a random thing. It would be helpful if you could supply your computer specs. So far you are the only other person I've seen with this issue.

I'm having the same problem. I have just installed 2Gb but the problem persists. I have around 30k plus tracks to search through. It's worse when a video is playing in the background.

To determine if the number if files made any difference I disconnected my external , loaded 10 files on my laptop, rebuilt my database. Still does the same thing. As soon as I hit search it starts skipping.

Did you have to install WMP11 or was it already on your computer? Can you try the following:

1. Open up windows media player 11 (WMP11)
2. Right click on the top bar and select Tools->Options...
3. In the "Performance" Tab select "choose connection speed" and set it to "LAN (10 Mbps or more).

If you can please post the results.

Also, did you download the latest audio drivers for your hardware. WMP11 usually requires new audio drivers in you were previously running WMP9. If that doesn't work you can try going back to the previous windows media player by un-installing WMP11. Although, the manual says you need WMP11 if it messes up you can try going back to whatever previous version you had. However, that should only be done if there is no way you can get updated audio drivers.

I've had this prob in the past with every version of hoster I've had.

but, it only skips when I do a vage search for a song like "kiss"

And I'm looking for Kiss and say Goodbye.

If the word is in alot of titles and in alot of artist, it will ship

Tim

Ok, finally had a chance to replace the audiodriver. The problem remained. Went to System Properties, Advance, Performance settings, Advance. Found that “Processor scheduling”, was set to “Background services” Changed it to “Programs”. This Fixed 95% of the problem. Still drops out occasionally when I hit the search button.
Last night was the first time I was able to do an entire show with 4.01. I had to restart Hoster 4 times (Killed the process from Task Manager) Song counts down to 00 and locks the program up. This was annoying but did not affect the show very much, since the restart takes about 15 seconds. Most people didn’t notice. I like all the new features, but it’s still pretty quirky. I get lots of audio drop outs, some barely noticeable. Can’t trace the cause to one particular thing that causes them. I am sure that with each update the program will be more stable.
