There is no Server 2002, there is a server 2003, but you shouldn't be running a server os on a laptop.

Windows 2000 desktop, would have some problems with partitioning and Disk drive size limitations. but that should not be causing the problems mentioned.
Hoster 3.21 will work with W2K workstations, but you will need to load service pack 4 if you don't have an alternative, like Windows XP SP2. SP4 addressed many of the limitations with memory, but mostly security vulnerabilities and such.
