I prefer Access personally. I still use laser discs as well & those wouldn't be listed in a Hoster made book.

I have KJPro but use Hoster because it is handy and I just have to keep up one database. I will like Hoster's a lot more when they put in the part for showing or deleting duplacate songs by the same brand. They were talking about that a while ago. KJPro is cool for looking up titles and artists that you don't have, to find out what brand has them.

Smile using hoster songbook program

I like the hoster songbook program because of the book id feature i just type in the book id and viola the song is there.
I also still use the big old pioneer laser disc but only because some of the versions are good.
So what i do is keep a separate laser disc songbook in my booth for the people who i know sing the laser disc versions.
Yes its a little more trouble but the customers are the reason i'm there
without them there wouldn't be any need for me.

Another reason I can't use the Hoster maker, I do prefer the disc ID (and not just an added line in the title line). Right now Hoster can't list the Disc ID instead of the Book ID (at least give the option to choose). Hopefully in the next release. And (well at least I can't find it) an easy way to delete selected duplicates out of the book but leave them in the searchable database.

Red face Lonman

Lonman do you know of anybody who has converted the old big pioneer laser disc into cdg's and then was able to import them into hoster?
At one time they offered the pioneer laser disc versions as cdg's but they didn't last very long and now i can't find them at all.

No but I know someone that did transfer them down to DVD or VCD I believe. I have no clue as to how that works or how to do convert them to make them work in Hoster.

The only way I'm aware of is to use a TV capture card in your computer and then physicly connect your laser player to the inputs on the card. I've had to use this method for a few DVD music videos that refused to let me rip them.

My card (a cheap crappy one I wouldn't recomend) saves it as an mpeg file which you can use as is or convert to something smaller like wmv or avi.

At this point in time video cannot be imported into Hoster however they can be added to the playlist and played using the video tab at the top of the playlist.

I used to use kjpro before I bought hoster. Hoster is a whole lot easier to create the song book, but the features / options that kjpro has is a lot better. I agree with most everyone else. I would like to see a way to delete ALL duplicate songs from the song book ONLY and NOT the data base. I had over 20K different songs which created a HUGE song book. I went thru my books and deleted all my dups which too me over 2 weeks nipping a little bit at a time. I am now down to 17K unduplicated songs which helped reduce the size of my song book a ton. Now, when I need to make an updated song book in the future, I'm going to have to spend another 2 weeks or more to do it all over again.

Com'on Hoster Reps.... I know you can do this if KJPRO can.... You guys are good at your jobs and we love you for it. Help us all out.

Using Access, do you have anything that eliminates duplicate entries when your songbook is created?

With Access you can create your own queries to do just about anything you want, but it takes a bit to learn how. I have been using Access for 20 years and I find it quite easy to use.

Have you created a query to take out duplicates in your songbooks?

No because I don't have that many duplicates to worry about. Besides most of my singers know which brand they like and if I took them out they would hollar.

I have 2007 access but never used it before... Don't really know how it even works?? I'm only guessing, but I bet most other users won't know how to use it either. How do you even get your song book to load into access to be able to change it?
