If you still have the problem, it's possibly a Vista issue.

If the older version works, then it's got to be something else.

That would at least narrow things down a bit more.

I have only had 4.002 and later on this machine since I built it. None have worked at all for importing only Hoster. I can get the program to import and play straight .wav but not karaoke.

MTUSUPPORT, I tried your suggestion and still the same.

I'm tempted to just try to move this to an XP machine until Vista gets itself straight. That would definitely eliminate a lot of questions. If after moving it the problem still persisted then it would be either the drives (which I doubt cause 2 of them are Plextors that worked with Hoster) or the program itself (which I also doubt for the record - I have been using MTU stuff for years and it is a top quality product)

What do you think?

Monolithent,

This just popped into my peabrain.

I have no reason to use 4XXX series, but I distinctly remember when I did install and look it over a year or so ago, there was a dialog box that popped up at the very start of running the program that had something to do with burner settings.

Perhaps one of the guys that have the program installed can run through the manual and advise you the setting you should have selected for your burner.. I just don't remember what the options were, or whether that may cause you not to be able import and play Karaoke.... been too long since I just glanced at it.

George that was for a DLL file needed to process MP3s, not for the drives.

Same problem?

Been around as an MTU user for years but a novice in the forums. I should probably create a new thread, but I'm wondering if Monolithent has arrived at a workable solution. His key observation made early in the thread, I think, is that track imports appear to complete almost instantaneously, resulting in a file size of 0 bytes. In my case, I can rule out MStudio 4.006, discs (brands, conditions, etc.), drives (MTU's Optiarc), Windows updates, drivers, etc. as sole root causes, because all components work fine on my older XP system. Similarly, my OS interacts just fine with the Optiarc drive, outside of the karaoke environment, so I don't think it's a permissions thing. If the culprit is indeed my 64-bit Vista Home Premium OS, is this something MTU can/will address?

MStudio 4.006 plays onboard files fine. And although the software will read disc contents, it will not import tracks or play them directly from disc.

Could this possibly be an AMD vs Intel issue?
