This happens to us on weekends at one place a lot.

I Usally get here at 8:00 sometimes i get started by 8:30 and we go untill 2:45 so it can be a six hour show. I try my best to get as many as I can in. Before I started as a kj I used to sing every once in awhile so i know how bad it is to only sing 1 or 2 times in a night, but what can you do when the rotation get that big, nothing. I know this was a vague question but I realy appreciate everyones comments.

"Mines bigger than yours" ha ha ha just kidding

We start at 9 & I will generally have a few slips sitting on the table before I even get there on any night.

We have some even call us at home or cellphone in once we get there and say "can you put me up the usual two or three songs I sing, and we'll be in around 9:30"?

The appitamy of lazy, texting in your request to the host. Have had that on occasion. Funny thing is they are sitting 1 table down from where I am & have slips on the table.

Sorry nothing to do with the topic, but you mentioned the cell phone & it reminded me.

Too funny.
I would find texting to be more work than getting up and moving five feet.

Usually when I get a text that requires more than just a yes or no answer, I'll just call 'em

Texting is a pain in the backside for me.

Hey All,
Being a karaoke nut and making the rounds on a regular basis as well as hosting my own show I see how the others work.
Some as little as 5 singers rotating and I think the most was 37, also depends on the venue.
Last night was great the kj, a girl, no disrespect here, but she wouldn't accept any help, got her programme all messed up and it stuck.
It would only play 1 song after another from the database, with no imput from her so she just said "this song is playing who wants to sing it".
No "My way"or the usual boring standards, kept some of the most boring singers out of the loop because they wouldn't attempt anything other than
the songs they repeat ad nausem.
Because of the way it went the audience gave all singers a great ovation for what they saw as being brave to dare sing unknown material.
All in all a one off special night.
Regards from across the pond.
Garry

Don't make much difference I've book all my gigs as DJ and KJ, so if I have three singers and thirty people I take a lot of DJ requests, some nights I get 30 and most night between 10 and 20. Either way I make sure the majority are happy, and drinking at the bar I'm at.

Well I knew that we were too busy cause we had problems in the other part of the bar. My rotation is now down to a managable 20 to 30, its so much nicer that way cause 60 and up is really too many

Yeah, I think karaoke rotation lists are sort of a natural "self-limiting" condition. If they get too long most people won't want to wait around, and the size of rotation sort of evolves to the most efficient that seems to work, I think somewhere around 20 -24 is my guess.

that number seems good to the bar, friends that don't sing crowd the place, singers like to listen to others as well, and their wait isn't too lengthy.

Well it was a friday night and I had another 50 person rotation. Am I wrong in thinking I'm one of the only ones who has rotations this big?

I'm not sure if I wish I did or I'm glad I don't.

Thirty is the max I've had and typicaly the rotations will start at about 10, peak at about 20 and end the night with about 10 again, give or take.

Now once you have all 50 names in there, are they all there (say for some, 3 hours into the show) when you actually call their names up?

Mine generally tend to peak out at around 30-35. Not often over. Avg is usually 25 or so.
