Problem Importing Chartbuster 90036R

I recently purchased Hoster and a certified USB reader/writer from MTU. Both products are outstanding and I just can’t say enough good things about them.

Living in East Tennessee there is a high demand for country. Being that I work only minutes from Tennessee Production Company a.k.a. Chartbuster, I buy 95 percent of my products from their facility. A couple of days ago I was importing Chartbuster’s Tim McGraw 90036R and only one track showed up – apparently seeing all the songs as one continuous song. Thinking that I may have scratched the CD and destroyed the file index data, I purchased another new copy of the CD yesterday. I tried to import the new CD last night and the same problem occurred – only one track shows up – no song name – appears to see all songs as one track. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a work around that would allow me to import this CD?

Thanks!
Kenny

What do you see on the CD when you look at it through Windows Explorer?

Did not look at it through Windows Explorer. I will try that tonight and post what I see.

Also see if there individual tracks when you play it in a karaoke or even a cd player.

I can tell you that I can play it in a Karaoke player and choose which of the 15 tracks I want to play and it plays only that track just fine.

Kenny,
Is it possible you have the wrong drive selected and have a non-music CD in it?
The reason I ask is I tried to duplicate this problem. I don't have the same disc but that doesn't matter to the database. Here is what I did and found:
With a program (non-audio) disc in the drive, I selected Chart Buster Pro 90000 and the DiscID CB90036. What I got back was the first track Title and Artist with a time of 53:05
With an audio CD in the player, I again selected the above items and got all the tracks with titles and artist correct with probably incorrect times, because that is determined from the disc track size. But I did get the correct info for CB90036.

Thanks Dale, but no I don't have the wrong drive selected and I do have the correct CD in. I was importing Chartbuster CD's pre and post to this occurance with no problems what so ever.

I looked at the CD through Windows Explorer last night and Track01.cda through Track15.cda shows up.

I also wrote down what Hoster is seeing on this CD:

Track - 1
Duration - 954280:58
Title - Unknown
Artist - Unknown

I've tried importing this using the Chartbuster number and from a custom build. It still only reads the one track. Again, this is the second 90036R that I have tried and the occurance is the same on both. All other Chartbusters are importing just fine. Normally I would just go on and not worry about it, but this particular CD has several songs that are requested over and over and over, so it is popular and I need to import it.

Hope this info helps and thanks for all the input so far.

Kenny

When you enter the Brand and DiscID what exactly are you entering and are you using the online database or the local database to add the tracks?
Also, if you have Microstudio use that to look at it. How many tracks do you see and can you import them to the hard drive (imports as .BIN).

Dale,

I can't tell you excatally what Chartbuster I tried as I'm at work. If I remember correctly it was the Chartbuster Pro then DiscID 90036 and I also tried the Chartbuster 9000 then DiscID 90036 (btw the R at the end of a Chartbusterr means that they re-released it with a change in a song or two, which I manually change the name on in the re-releases when the song field is populated by the database), plus I tried a custom setup - local data base only as I have not ran my ethernet cable yet. I do not have Microstudio. I do have Cubase XL although I have never used it on a Karaoke CD so I don't know if it would import them and save as a .bin or not or even if it supports the graphics. Do you think I need to purchase Microstudio? Also, I forgot to mention that I have the internal DVD reader/writer on my system marked as a Bad Drive in Hoster so it isn't used to import, only the USB certified drive from MTU is used.

Thanks!
Kenny

Kenny,
I don't know what to say. Maybe Bob is right in that Chartbuster may be using a new protection of sorts. I am wondering if anyone else out there has this Chartbuster disc and can verify the problem. I don't but guess I could order one to see if I get the same problem.

Hi' Kenny
Try using a different CB disc, But tell hoster it is CB Artist CB90036.
and see what happens.
and if you have Microstudio you can import the disc, and then burn it back to cd, and try importing that one.
i have had to do this with a few contrary disc. Bob

Dale, if no one else has one, i will order one friday and see what it is. Bob

I had a similiar problem with a cdg from Sing King, except instead of 1 big track out of 12, I got something like 8 tracks plus 1 big track for the last 4. Microstudio had the same problem with it.

Kenny I tried to send you a PM about a possible work around but your PM seems to be disabled.

Last night I tried what Bob suggested and inserted a different CD in my drive to import and told Hoster that it was CB 90036. The import screen was populated with the songs and then I selected all of them to import after changing the name of one that was different. Then I put the actual CB 90036 in the drive and told it to import the selected tracks. Track one turned red and said Record. However, the progress bar never progressed. After a few minutes I just canceled out. I also tried to import the tracks into Wave Lab and Cubase SX. Neither program would import them. I did a disk analysis with Wave Lab and it reported that the disk was an Audio Disk - 566 Mbytes in size. I wondered if Windows Media Player would play the audio and it did with no problem.

Lightbulb

A light just went on in my head!! Back around Halloween I had gotten a special Halloween CDG with a lot of sound effects and songs for the occasion. Anyway it had something like 32 tracks and when I put it in Hoster I only saw the first 8 or 9 tracks, because they had set up the rest of the disc as an audio disc.
About that time we were testing the last upgrade for Microstudio and with that upgraded version I could see all the tracks. So I imported them into Microstudio which copies as a BIN file, then imported them into Hoster. Since Hoster is lagging behind Microstudio in this area, that may be the current solution.

Microstudio has been updated with new code for reading disc and Hoster hasn't yet?

The CD reader I have is the MTU USB certified reader. What brand is this? I would be happy to mail the CD to one of you, just PM me. Would buying Microstudio be the solution?
