I just created a new folder Called HOSTER TEST.
HOSTER SONGLIST containes two tracks from a S.C. disc.
I got out the same disc and went to Import and changed the target folder to HOSTER TEST.
Then I put in the Brand and disc number information.
It read the disc and showed the first two tracks as imported.
I ignored that, clicked the two track boxes and the message changed from IMPORT to READY. I told it to process the selected tracks and it did. I now have two different folders with the same two tracks in them.

Then I went to REBUILD DATABASE and selected HOSTER TEST( both folders were showing)...It did the rebuild and advised me that duplicate disd ID's were detected, which I expected.

I don't know what the situation would be with unknown brands...might have to type everything in. I'll try one whan I get more time.
I am guessing you used a different BookID and when you did the rebuild you listed both paths? I want to keep the same BookID though. Try that and see if it ignores the target and overwrites.

Wrong on both counts. I used the same book I.D. and only built the database in the test folder. To do otherwise would have been a lesson in futility.

Then why would it tell you that there were duplicate DiskIDs?

Because there were, one set in each folder. The originals in the normal folder, and the duplicate imports in the temp folder....elementary, dear Watson

So did you do a "rebuild" with both folders listed or did you do a "merge" with both listed? Doesn't matter...I am going to try GaryC's idea. I believe it will work to do what I want it to do.

I did what I said I did in my first post, and merged nothing.

It worked here, choose to believe it or not.

I hope I'm wrong, but have a nagging feeling that in cases like Unknown Brands, or KHP made discs where the title and artist had to be manually input, they will have to be manually input again, regardless...dunno, just a feeling

Case closed.
