![]() I deleted a few songs from my database using tools, dropdown, edit..
After doing so it said I should go to my tools and "rebuild song database" This said it would start my songs from 0..I figured it would just renumber my song list. When I went to do a gig last night, over HALF of my songlist was GONE! Am a little freaked out about losing approximately 5000 songs. Are they really gone? Can I retrieve them somehow? I could really use some advice with this. And I REALLY wish I could speak to a live person, but would be happy if ANYONE could help me. I no longer have my initial hard copy library, so this could be detrimental to my business. Thanks to anyone who responds. Denise |

Hard copy library I am assuming you mean your original discs?

As long as you didn't delete the 5000, then they should still be there. Did you get any "duplicate bookid messages? Check on rebuild database window and make sure all of the directory paths listed are correct and includes all of them. Check the folders where your kma files are located and make sure the count is right.
There really shouldn't have been any message/requirement to rebuild the database after deleting those songs as that would automatically update the database. Maybe it said rebuild (print) the songbook? Also, as Lonman said if you are referring to your original disks as "initial hard copy" then you are operating illegally. You are supposed to keep your originals as proof of your license to use the computer copies.

Denise, what version of Hoster are you running? It makes a difference.
I suspect the problem is your Tools menu, Build Songs Database list window (the large window in the screen middle) may not have all your folders listed in it where your KMA files are. Use Windows Explorer to search your hard drive (all of them) for *.kma files. Then, using the Add Folder button in the Build Songs Database screen to add each folder to the list. As Lonman and Dale have pointed out, if you sold your Disc library but are using the imported KMA songs, you are operating illegally. If someone legal, or a competitor, ever discovered this (we don't tell ![]() |
