Just shy over 10,300 as of last week. Went to my master, have 13,200 with dups. I am careful when I do buys not to get a disc that I already have the majority of the songs - unless it is an absolute MUST HAVE.

I do the same thing. Now I buy mostly new stuff monthly that comes out in Pop and Country, guaranteed uniqueness that way too.

I was estimating about 20 - 30 % duplicates in an average buyer's collection. You're right about there.

ex. 2900 / 13,200 = 21.97% : Towards the low end, good.

Anyone else wanna offer their duplicate % out of curiosity.

I have found that most of my customers appreciate the dups, because a lot of people like to sing certain manufactures.

That's interesting. I don't think once in three years someone has said "do you have the "so and so" version of so and so? Although, sometimes I've heard them say that "that wasn't the same version you played last week. Some customers just give me their name and song title and I look it up, and if I have more than one in the kma folder(although the songbook only contains one of each song)they sometimes notice if i happen to choose a different one from Hoster that they normally sing.

I've had that asked on occasion which manu did the particular version I listed & if I have so & so version. Not often, but it was enough to put a page in my book to come up & ask if I might have another version you may be used to.
I do have one gal that will ONLY do Sound Choice versions - even if others may be better.

I get it all the time, and still if I have 5 of one song, someone will give me a disk because that is the version they like. Most of my singers are pretty hard core.

I have that happen all the time. I have many people ask if I have an SC version of a song over a THM or PHM version. Some people like THM and PHM over SC. In my book if I have dupes I will put SC THM PHM DK so on and so on behind the dupe songs. If I had songs that were dupe of Music Mestro I took the MM out. However people do ask some people would not know the wiser but it is suprising how many people do know the difference between certin versions.

I have been doing this for 10+ years and I prob have had the question 10,000 times in them 10 years. I find it better just to put the good versions in the book and label them like I said above.

Kil, you're simply amazing. The math states that you have ppl questioning you about specific karaoke manufacturers 3 times a day, 7 days a week, year round for 10 years straight. maybe you only gig 2 or 3 times a week, then that becomes 10 times a gig every gig, WOW!! Unless you have ten new ppl every gig, asking that same question every time, that's hardly likely. I mean you must have some regular customers who must get sick of asking it over and over.

You're math is amazing, too.

Remember, experience cannot replace education.
