I know this may sound dumb, but, you mean " save to disc" first? And then run the upgrade from the saved disc? Or, can you run the upgrade(online) then save the program to disc? I am more of a musician and karaoke jockey than I am a computer pro, this is why I am asking.

You should never run any update or install from online. You never know when something will happen during the install that could interupt it. Always save a copy first to your hard drive. Then install from the copy you downloaded. To keep a permanent copy you can then burn it from the hard drive to a CD. That way you can reinstall when needed.

You save the new one, and you're always up to date with your back up's. I use CDRW's for that purpose...off with the old, on with the new
