As long as you have a copy of the setup file for that previous version, you should be able to re-install it. May have to have registration for it reset for it, but should still be able to do it.
I think the older version may be interfering with the Demo install. The latest version 3.004 uses a totally new code to access the drives and the older version may be causing a conflict.
You say you have a Plextor drive on each computer. What models are you using?
