you need to put the operating cd (windows xp) in the cd-rom and start the computer. when it prompts to boot to the cd press any key do so. if it wont boot to the cd you will have to change settings in the bios.

did you say you bought the computer from MTU ??

you might want to contact them.

i dont know what the warranty is and i dont want you to do anything to void the warranty.

It's out of warranty, but I think I will contact them in the morning anyway. I don't plan to try to do this tonight - the old brain isn't as fresh as it could be. Thanks so much for your help, and have a great week.
