In addition to support's card recommendation, it is also possible there are too many programs running in the background and
"sucking up" memory. This happens in two ways, as I've been led to understand it. One is with the p.c. that's on all the time and used a lot. Programs that appear to have been closed out are still in the cache and require memory until the p. c. is re-started.

Another is extensive use of programs that are running in the background all the time, and are in the start up configuration. Most need to be taken out of start up config as they are accessible when wanted through start and programs file.This is another of Windows' insanities.They can easily be identified by all the shortcuts in the lower right hand taskbar. There is a method of going into the start up config file and removing the unnecessary ones. Get advice on how to do it from your p.c.guru. I'd not want the responsibility of having you take out something that should be there.

There's the obvious problem that both above reasons come into play at the same time.

One good way to check all this out before re-booting is to go to control panel, then system, then performance. Optimum is in the 90%+ range, and I'm told anything below 80% indicates too many programs in the background using up memory. Since stumbling into this, I use it as a barometer and keep my p.c. performance range in the mid to upper 80%s and it acts like a new p.c. performance wise.
