CRC Errors on copying files

The problem is not the hard drive, I am using an external 300 gig lacie for my show, and backing up to a 500 gig Maxtor, both external, using a laptop.
Everything is brand new. I am however copying large amounts from one drive to the other, karaoke is 180 gigs of data, and the DJ is about 80. When backing up i seem to lose a handful of songs each time and they are always different ones, so I will try the CRC Checker and see how that works as it is always a CRC error. Am I getting it right that there is another way beside the copy function called ghost mirror that is faster and you dont have the data transfer errors. Also, I have gotten WinRar and this has worked to unzip the files to another folder, but then I had problems copying those folders and su bfolder to another as mp3 and cdg files to then import. Still working on it. have a show tonight and sunday will give it a try again with the upgraded hoster first and then go from there. Let you know..........

Forum rules call for having only one problem in a Thread. When you need answers to a different problem, post it as a new Thread. Those who have knowledge about that Thread Title will then see it and answer.
