where to obtain backing tracks

I first found backing tracks by using Internet Explorer. I keyed in a search string for "backing+tracks+for+singers". It was then just a case of searching the results for the titles which interested me. Here in the UK there are quite a few excellent companies from whom I order. I am sure that over there in the good old US you will be spoilt for choice. In the extremely unlikely event that you are unable to find anything suitable e-mail me and I'll see if I can help you.
Once I get the tracks I have ordered I can then decide whether to shorten, lengthen or otherwise adapt the track, before I CDG it. With a decent music file editting program (I recommend Soundprobe2) there is nothing to stop you having the exact arrangement you want.
