Beavis; please listen to my question? I already have song numbers that work fine and do not wish to change the numbering system as I have spent much time and bukkarooson newly printed books that get all kinds of compliments as compared to the competition.

My real question is how long would you expect it to take to import those songs I mentioned in the previuos posts?

I realize each song is assigned a number, but singers request for title artist and by number because many times they put the wrong number in and you need to have the title or artist as well.

Yes Beavis;
But I was referring to my special situation of loading a number of custom discs and brand name discs that need to be rset up so the rootbookid end up matching my existing disc numbers and track numbers. Will you please take a look at my post above and tell me what you might think a total time might be. Remember, my importing was a little unusual because of my persistence to retain my current song book and numbering system?
Thanx,
Bryant

I have been reading this post, and have become a little confused. One nice thing about Hoster is, regardless of what your karaoke book number system is...Hoster still works. I know a few KJ's who have NO disc numbers in their books, or use NO books at all. I prefer a book because your singers like to look; and it gives them something else to do while waiting their turn. When importing, you can use " custom disc " and use any number you want. As far as how long, doesn't that depend on how many discs you intend to download? Sorry if I'm not on track with this one.

in hoster you can search or enter by book id or brand. you can create your own brand by typing something in the brand slot. you dont have to choose what MTU put in there. where it say "select brand" just type what you want.

you dont have to use the book-id to enter singers choice.

i hope this is'nt getting confusing.

What is the simplest...way to import songs...from my own discs that are already logged in my current songbook as disc numbers such as 854 , 855, etc., etc.
With this example, I will use Disc #854
With Hoster OPEN:
1. Insert Disc #854 in the CDROM.
2. Open the IMPORT CD TRACKS Window.
3. Click the DROP DOWN arrow to the right of the BRAND and select CUSTOM ASSEMBLY
4. Click INTO the DISCID Box and TYPE the Number 854
5. Click INTO the BOOKID Box and TYPE the Number 854
6. Click the ADD TRACKS TO IMPORT Button

STOP! Read the response to the second question before proceeding.

Your ACTUAL Discs may contain Title and Artist info, before the .BIN extension, but Hoster WILL NOT be able to populate its TITLE and ARTIST List Box when the ADD TRACKS TO IMPORT Button (#6 above) is Clicked.

Therefore, the answer to your second question is:
There is NO QUICK WAY...period.

Continue to STEP 7:
7. TYPE in all TITLE and ARTIST information into that correspond to EACH Trk.
8. Click the SELECT ALL Box to CHECK it, if it has not already been Checked.
9. Click PROCESS SELECTED TRACKS.
DONE.
REPEAT for EACH Disc that you have.

Make a note as to the time it takes to process Disc #854. Multiply that times the number of Discs you have left to get the time it will take to complete the task.

With the above procedure, YOUR Disc #854 will be:
Assigned DiscID 854
and
Assigned BookID 854

Your CURRENT printed Song Lists will, then, work for either looking up by BRAND, which I would never do, because it takes THREE clicks and THREE choices to finally add a Song to the Playlist, or SIMPLY enter the BOOKID, which would correspond to YOUR Song Lists DISCID.

In other words:
DiscID=BookID
So, when a Singer submits a request Slip with what they would be submitting as a DISCID of 85401 or 854-01 (However you have them listed in your Song Lists), which would be DISC 854 and TRACK 01, then, you would SIMPLY TYPE this number, without the DASH (-), in case your are using 854-01 as printed in your Song Lists, and, as submitted by the Singer, into the BOOKID Box, in which, the BOOKID is what makes Hoster soooooo unique.

ONLY HAVING TO ENTER A BOOKID is infinity quicker than adding a SONG via the BRAND!

I hope this helps,

Norm

he will switch over one day to the book id !

all the singer needs to do is enter one short number. no the artist or title.

i still have them put the song name to make sure its correct.

ps: thanks norm, i didnt feel like typing all that.

Finally, Kudoa to nReel

nReel has finally give a complete thought out answer to all my questions. Notice how he spelled everything out and answered both my questions and gave me an estimate of time involved. However, if there are any more ideas about importing I can use, keep 'em flying in as I appreciate all.
nReel, may I email you?

Thanx again nReel, but what about disc# with dashes?

nReel, again let me thank you for being so thorough. The other question will be about what I do with discs like "Chartbuster Essential Plus 451".. I know those will be easier as I will not have to populate the title-artists myself, but the disc numbers are 451-1, 451-2, etc. and they are listed in my current song book as such, e.g., 451-4-08. That is what the request slip would have on it for a song number. I would need to look up the book ID as 451-4. Is that possible, if not, what is the closest arrangement to that?

Since you, as the KJ entering numbers into Hoster, would need the quickest and easiest way to get a Song into the Playlist, BookID is the only way to go.

And, since you, probably, have Generic Discs numbered all the way through Disc #451, then the only way to resolve the CB Essential Discs would be to look at 451-4, which is Pack 451 and Disc 4, as BookID 4514.

So, simply use the first 4 numbers as your BookID.

This will allow you to utilize Hoster's Database to "populate" the TITLE and ARTIST fields.

When a Singer submits 451-4-08, you will enter 451408 into the BookID Field.
