Yes Or No?
Sorry but I still don't get your answer to my question. My question is: All my KMA were converted from zips on my HD. over 20,000. Since converting them to KMA's I have edited hundreds but I have not rebuilt my database because of the known problem which I knew all along. (Saved Hoster entire program folder) So now, having not rebuilt my database, I wanna know if rebuilding it with the update would not cause the problem again. Sorry if I didn't understand your answer, thanks again for the response.

![]() Aarrgee,
I think that the update will fix the problem with a rebuild database command. Re-importing will not be needed I'm sure. You will probably have to delete song.mdb before a rebuild though. That's my understanding Wally ![]()

You have CHANGED the KMA HEADER of EVERY TRK YOU EDITED. The "Damage" was done when the Trks were EDITED. Re-Building the DB has nothing to do with Damaging a Trk. Re-Building the DB simply READS and REPORTS what is ALREADY in the HEADER. Therefore, the Answer to your question is NO. No, a FIXED Version of Hoster will NOT do anything to correct Headers of Song Trks that have been EDITED via the EDIT SONGS Menu of released versions of v3.110 and possibly v3.108. But, at least, it will be easier for you to identify which Trks to Re-Import by following what I stated earlier: Quote:

Okay maybe you're not understanding my question. Here goes again. All the tracks that I have edited play perfect because I have not rebuilt my database. All I really want to know is that if with the new update, can I go ahead and rebuild my database and if the KMA's would play well just as they are doing now? I know that when I edit a KMA file, the header changes and becomes ireversable. That is why I haven't rebuilt my database because the bug would change it from HD to CD and thus would cause an error.

If you Re-Build your DB with any Version, NEW or OLD, any EDITED songs that were Imported from the Hard Drive WILL NOT Play! <---Is that clear enough? Post #12 by Wallymeister Quote:
The problem is with the EDIT SONGS Menu. Last edited by nreel; August 24th, 2005 at 07:39 PM. |

I can't see how the edit songs feature is faulty when all the songs that I have edited (without rebuilding my database) play perfectly. It has to be with the rebuild database.

I can't see why the edit songs feature is at fault when all the songs that I have edited (without rebuilding the database) play perfectly. It's only when I rebuilt my database that I noticed that the songs didn't play "Error". So what I did was backup my entire Hoster program folder so I don't have to do a rebuild database. Presently I have hundreds of edited KMA's that play perfectly. But I dare not to do a rebuild.

Maybe if a different term for REBUILD was used, like READ/UPDATE, it would become clear. Because that is what happens during a REBUILD. Hoster READS the HEADER and UPDATES the SONGS.MDB (DB).
When you use the EDIT SONGS Menu, currently, you may only change ARTIST and SONG TITLE information and Hoster was PROGRAMMED to show/update the DB in these 2 Fields, immediately, upon clicking APPLY and OK. You do NOT see that the TYPE is changed because it is neither viewable nor an EDITABLE Field, but it gets CHANGED, nevertheless. The TYPE is being changed because Hoster, from the EDIT SONGS Menu viewpoint, thinks that the HD Imported Trk is a CD Imported Trk. Hoster does this because the EDIT SONGS Menu was ORIGINALLY Programmed to EDIT CD IMPORTED SONGS. When HD Imports became available to Hoster's EDIT SONGS Menu, further programming would have been needed so that the EDIT SONGS Menu would recognize the newly added HD Import Formats. Since this programming was not added, Hoster's EDIT SONGS Menu sees all HD Imports as CD IMPORTS and, upon EDITING a Song, CHANGES the HEADER to agree with the CD Trk EDIT HANDLING Programming. Your Songs still work because the DB TYPE Field DOESN'T get Updated immediately when a Song is Edited. However, Rebuilding the DB causes all HEADER information to be READ and ALL Fields, in the DB, to be UPDATED. |
