Laptop
I finally bought a lap top to run my Karaoke show with. Originally I put everything on my personal computer and downloaded all my songs to an external hard drive. Now that I have the laptop I tried to put the program on it and when I get to a certin part it tells me to install a floppy in my A drive. There is no A drive on this machine so I am stuck with the option to cancle. Do I have to purchase another complete software for this machine or am I doing something wrong. Thanks for the help.

The only 2 options to install the Software are the following:
1) Your computer is connected to the Internet before you start the installtion. This way you never see the part asking for a floppy disk. 2) You don't have this computer connected to the Internet, then you MUST have a Floppy drive. If you system doesn't have a floppy drive and you don't have the Internet on this system, then you will need to purchase a USB Floppy to make it work.

The laptop must be connected to the internet to install and not use a floppy.
If it's not, that's when the floppy install kicks in so that a pc that's not on line can be installed using another pc that is on line. George ooops, we crossed in the mail |

hey bryan,
why not use a CD-ROM instead of a floppy ? most all computers have a CD drive. not all have a floppy. just a question. |

Ralph,
If you are still getting the error stating that you need to insert a Floppy disc, and the computer is connected before you start the Install. The problem most likely is that you have a Firewall, that has blocked our program from going to the Internet. You will need to go into this "Firewall" program, which could be Norton, Zone Alarm, XP Service Pack 2, etc. and allow our software to go out or disable the firewall for a few minutes while you run the Install. To answer you Beavis, The Reason for the Floppy is that it can be written to, over and over unlike a CD. We had toyed with trying to do a USB Flash, but it never has the same drive letter. When you start the Install it always looks to see if there is a Floppy in the A: drive with the information it needs for that computer. If so, it takes the information from the disk and skips the internet connection. Here is how the process works: These files are copied to the Floppy are Runme.exe, RegInfo.dat and winhttp.dll. Once the files are written to the floppy, you then take this to a computer that is connected to the Internet. You then Open the A:\ under My computer and Double click on the Runme.exe file. This then transmits the data from the Reginfo.dat file to our site and then our site removes some of the data from this file on your disk and puts the needed codes. Once this is done you take the disk back to your computer that you are trying to Install the MTU software on.
