Your computer can overhead within minutes if the air vents get blocked. An hour is MORE than enough time to overheat. Also, until it cooled back down overheating would probably prevent the computer from restarting.

Make sure you keep your air vents open....

I have run this laptop for Hoster using the exact same setup for 4-5 hours at a time with no problems before. Based on all of your suggestions, I will consider raising the laptop somehow so it's guaranteed to have good airflow underneath. Thanks for all of the advice. This forum is great. It's nice how everyone seems to come to one's rescue.

Another thought. Note the time these things happen and go to start/control panel/administrative tools/event viewer. Maybe your computer will tell you whats going on.
