Re: Back up hard drive
I don't think he has a problem getting his PC to recognize the new hardware (external drive). He wants to have the HOSTER software itself installed on an external drive to swap between 2 PCs instead of just having the kma files on the external drive and swapping those between 2 PCs that have the HOSTER software. From what I've read on the boards here, the HOSTER software itself should be on the PC and not on the external drive. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyone using NORTON GHOST, be sure to create the RECOVERY BOOT DISC that they suggest.
Something hit my computer before I shut down last night. This morning I could not boot to C:. When I tried using the XP disc to boot and repair the drive it told me the hard drive was corrupted and could not be repaired. I remembered having made the RECOVERY BOOT DISC when I installed GHOST. I was able to boot with it, clone the unaffected D: to C: and everything was back to normal in about 20 minutes. A key to that also is to copy and paste any additions(new songs, etc) to any of the C: folders to the matching D: folders, saving to do a clone after each operation. I do that after every new addition to the C:, then when a drive is restored out of necessity, nothing is lost. Since Ghost replaces everything on the target drive, an automatic format is achieved, eliminating that step. As quarantined viruses and spywares build up on C: I simply clone the unaffected D: to C: and get rid of them, leaving all files in clean, operable condition. If you installed Ghost and skipped making the RECOVERY BOOT DISC, do it now. Without it, I would have been carrying my pc to the shop Monday . George |

i always use the clone to another drive. thn you just swap out the drives and re-clone the bad drive.
