I have never seen a system that would not hold the Settings for the Hardware Acceleration. This is all controlled by Microsoft, so you may check to see if there are any Articles on their website at http://msdn.microsoft.com . Click on Search and Type in Hardware Acceleration.

This is the only thing that I can think of for you to try.
