Re: XP service pack 2

I have installed it on my Laptop and it is running without any glitches. I have installed it on 2 other computers, and the computers would not boot back up once I had done this. I then had to reformat the systems to get them back up and running.

I think the problem was something with the systems using a SIS Chipset, or a Via chip for the USB 2.0. I tried on these 2 systems multiple times and never was able to get them to run with SP2, so I put them back to SP1.

I know Microsoft has a list of alot of programs that won't run with SP2. I am not having any problems though with any programs on my system.

Upgrade to Karaoke Home Producer 4.103 to fix this problem at www.mtu.com. The upgrade is $15.

"I installed XP SP2 yesterday and know I get Error #1 when I try to launch KP. Any thoughts?"

This is exactly why I don't do updates simply for the sake of doing updates. If a new piece of software requires it or it's necessary to fix a problem that's one thing but it's a risky game to update just because one exists.

When it comes to computers truer words were never spoken: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Re: XP service pack 2

I do every update when they come out, and have never had a single problem with my system.

There is always soemthing else in conjunction with an update, when it causes a problem.

Re: XP service pack 2

Since you've already reformatted it's a little too late for this suggestion but for future reference you might have been able to use Windows RESTORE to set your computer back to the way it was before the install.

But you are right, unless SP2 is required to operate some future Hoster Upgrade, I won't be chancing it on the computer I use to make a living.
