Importing one CDG to Hoster

I created my own lyrics for a CDG song in KPH, saved as: a CDG on a CD disk. Now I want to add it to the rest my KMA files in Hoster, since I will use hoster from now on, but It seems that Hoster will not accept CDG files unless they are on tracks from a CD.

Microstudio will only save as LST, Hoster will only save as HST, when saving files

My problem is importing them to Hoster from a CD. There seems to be no way possible that I can see that this is done.

Can you clear this up for me. Thanks.

By the way I converted most of my CD+G's on the original CD to Hoster, and found it not bad at all. A few of my disks are newer than the listing you have. I can do them in Custom though.
You are doing wonders with these programs, did you miss this?

Re: Importing one CDG to Hoster

Your song is on a cd as a cdg file (as a track I assume). Hoster will read that cdg track and import it as a .kma file. You have no problem at all. Import your cd as a custom cd with one track. A Hoster .hst file is created when you build a songlist during a show. Microstudio only deals with .cdg files.

Thumbs up Re: Importing one CDG to Hoster

If I understand you correctly, you have a karaoke song that you created, on a cd in cdg file form.

If so, all you need to do is;
1. Open the tray to your Plextor writer, insert the cd that you created and close the tray
2. Open up the MTU-Hoster program
3. Select "Read CD Tracks"
4. Under Brand select: "Custom Assembly" from the list
5. Enter a Disc ID #: "1001"
6. Enter a vacant Book ID#: "500"
7. Select Ratio: "128k"
8. If you wish to normalize, go to "Change Settings" tab
9. Make necessary changes
10. In the lower Track window, Enter "Artist" name and "Song" name
11. Check the box at the left of the Track
12. Select the "Import Tracks" tab

When the process is complete, you will need to go to the "Tools Tab" and select "Build Songs Database"

When this is complete, select the Play List tab

Then go to the "Book ID" drop down arrow and select your song. It should be "50001", if you entered the numbers above. (This is book 500 track 01)

Then select "Add Track"

The selected track should show up in the lower window

Now "select the track" and "select Play"

I hope that I didn't leave out anything.

Good Luck

Re: Importing one CDG to Hoster

All that you say is what I am trying to do BUT
There are no tracks on the CD I made. Just a CDG song copied to the
cd disk. I see no way to get a CDG in Hoster except from a CD Disk with tracks, and I can't import a "LST" file there either.

The only way copy a CDG on a CD disk in Microstudio is to use duplicate disk. "Add tracks from". I have no tracks on this CD.

I can use save as: for a CDG, in KHP to anywhere I want, but no tracks are copied.

I come to the conclusion that I must use another CD creator program to copy the song or songs with tracks? MTU programs will not do this.

Just exactly what do you think a track is??

You also said:

Microstudio will only save as LST
I think that's where you're messing up. The .lst file is a reference extension given to a play or custom assembly PROJECT, not the tracks in the project. Microstudio saves CDG's as .CDG and audio only as .WAV.

The .lst file is simply a compilation of TRACKS you wish to burn to a disc which must be done on a CDR in one operation, since unless you're using a CDRW, you could not make any future additions to a regular CDR disc.

You build your cdg in Karaoke Home Producer, export it to cdg to Microstudio and is is saved as a CDG TRACK. All you need do then is burn it to a disc and then import it to Hoster.

Hope this helps.

Re: Importing one CDG to Hoster

Jdavia,
What you need to do is open Microstudio.

Go to the Custom Assembly Tab.

Click on Karaoke + CDG for Disc Format.

Click Hard Drive button.

Find the .cdg file on your computer, that you wish to burn to a CD.

Once the song has been selected and is now in your List, click Write Cd.

It will now write the new Karaoke CD.

What you had done before, was just used a program such as EZ CD Creator to burn a DATA CD instead of an Audio or Karaoke CD. This is why you see the .cdg file on your CD.

Re: Importing one CDG to Hoster

To make it clearer

I copied the CD disk while in KHP --- clicked file/ EXPORT AS CDG, --- to a CD Drive.

I selected CUSTOM ASSEMBLY, KARAOKE + CD, also selected HARD DRIVE.

I selected the files from the hard drive.

Now in Custom Assembly, at the bottom of the screen it says the
Reading drive is a CD drive, and the Writing drive is a CD drive.
No hard drive to read or write from

I get this message:
ERROR: Invalid CUE SHEET command at line 7
File contains no data

Re: Importing one CDG to Hoster

That's where you're making your mistake. When you click to export to cdg in KHp, select a folder to save it to, not a drive. Then you go to Microstudio custom assembly, import the track from the folder you saved it in, and write to a cd.

Copied from the KHP manual:

"Export to CDG... Command
This writes the open Project as a new CDG Karaoke song ON THE HARD DISC. It displays a dialog box that allows choosing where to save the file ON THE HARD DRIVE."

You might want to create a Songlist folder just for that purpose.

Re: Importing one CDG to Hoster

The KHP program will create a .cdg file not a track.
Copy the .cdg file to your hard drive.
Now open Microstudio and follow the directions given by Mtu support.
Microstudio will take the .cdg file and burn it to a cd as a .cdg track.
Hoster will now read this newly burned cdg disk.

Does this help?

Re: Importing one CDG to Hoster

OK I will try that.
Thanks, I will get back with the results

I Did it.
I have two Plexor CD drives, one inboard and one external. I was getting an error because the wrong drive was selected.

And I found out that in KHP, even though you can select a CD drive to store the file to, it saves it as a shortcut not the original file. But it will play anyway.
