alanross, I agree with you totally. The only ones who enjoy the contest are non singers.
The only thing I would add is: The only ones who enjoy the contest are those nonsingers: who aren't too emotionally tied to one of the non-winning singers! Still they usually do increase revenues and traffic a bit and most owners will want them. I still dislike them! There are some great ideas on this thread though about how to run one with minimal resistance! I also think your right about how important it is to have a good system and to run it properly.
