Music Still Skipping Continued

Many times we are told to update or use different drivers to solve Microstudio problems like skipping. I am confused about which drivers microstudio is actually using.
I removed both
wnaspi32.dll (default driver)
and wnaspiint.dll (MTU installed driver)
from my machine. Microstudio wouldn't function (obviously)
without these drivers no matter which option was selected in the
"Select ASPI Driver" menu in the microstudio program.
So far so good.

Next I moved wnaspi32.dll (default driver) back to the WINNT/SYSTEM32 directory and restarted microstudio.
I expected Microstudio to function if I selected "default driver" in the menu and not to function if I selected "MTU installed driver"
Instead Microstudio functioned no matter what the
"Select ASPI Driver" menu was set to.

It also worked the other direction too. If I just had the wnaspiint.dll (MTU installed driver) installed in the WINNT/SYSTEM32 directory the "Select ASPI Driver" menu
didn't seem to make any difference either.

So the question is, What good is the "Select ASPI Driver" menu?

How can I positively know exactly what driver Microstudio is actually using? It would be a big help to know this when you are trying to debug a problem.
