Christi,
We are sorry for the delay. We have sent your CD and a copy of it back to you. Please test this copy to see if it does the same. We have also sent a copy out to another client with the same Karaoke Player to see if it will work on his JVC Karaoke machine.

Thanks,

I received the disks you sent me and took the copy to the messed up JVC player. It did the same thing-blank screen with ext. up in the right hand corner. The other copied commercial karaoke songs played fine. Only the karaoke home producer w/Vogone applied did not play. I guess it just may be the player. Maybe the other person who has one will get it to play, then we will know that the player is the problem. Thanks for all your trouble looking into this.

From "nitelife": I just got an E-mail from one of the J.O.L.T.ers (Forum) who has KHP and 9 (nine!) JVC800's. He indicated that he's never had a problem with KHP songs working on his machines. Although some of the early ALL HITS brand cdg's wouldn't work with the superimpose feature turned on.

Christi, this is a strong indication the problem is with your player. Try turning superimpose off and report the findings here.

Have you tried with Superimpose disabled?

Christi, we have another client with 9 JVC 800s that play our Karaoke Home Producer made songs with no problems... when Superimpose is disabled.

Have you tried this yet? Please post your response here as we all want to know.

Thanks!

Question Superimpose button

I did ask her about the superimpose button. We could not find a button marked superimpose. Is it called something else on the machine? She has never fooled around with this feature before and did not know how to switch it off. This may be the problem but since she is playing at the time, I don't have much time to study her machine. Could you please ask the guys with this JVC800 player what is written on the switch so I don't have to waste too much of her time looking for it. She wants to help me but does not like people fooling with her stuff! Thanks for all your help and I will try and find it again.

Superimpose Switch

The superimpose switch is located on the back of the unit, between the video input/outputs and the AC power cord. It is clearly marked "SUPERIMPOSE".

You can tell your friend that if it is already in the "ON" position, then switching it to "OFF" won't have any effect with the operation of the player.

Wink Eureka!

Thanks to everyone. Sure enough the superimpose switch was on and causing a lot of trouble for me and the guys at MTU and the forums. The CD played perfectly. We were able to play all my songs made in KHP. It was great. 3 people asked for your website. I'm sorry for all the trouble I put you thru, but I am so happy your programs have lived up to their name. Now that we know about this little problem, I hope it helps someone else in the future. Thanks to the JVC owners out there also. Does anyone know if JVC or anyone else, still makes a cartridge karaoke player?

That didn't fix my problem.

Chrisi - All I can say is I'm glad it worked for you. I am confused however, I too own 8 of these JVC 800+1 Karaoke players and all of them have trouble reading the disc made in KHPro. Sometimes, they work fine and other times they don't. I am experienced with these players and know how they work in and out. My problem is not as easy as a superimpose switch. Anyone else have this sometimes does sometimes does not problem? Our media is only Mitsui Gold. Even when they are burned at 1X speed.. still the same problem.
All discs made in KHPro work great in all of our other players. Only JVC800+1 give us this grief.
Thanks
Corbin

Corbin, send us two songs that you have made with Karaoke Home Producer - one that works on your JVC, and one that doesn't. We'll try to see if there is any differences in the coding. Send it to MTU, 6900 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615.

We won't jump on it immediately as this is a high investment - one client problem. However, with the songs, we will at least have the raw material to look at the problem. As you can see, there was a LOT of interest in this Thread, and Christi's problem was solved. We will all try to solve your "version" of this problem also.

Thank you,
I will be sending the discs to you 5/14/01. I understand it will take some time, I thank you just for trying to help.

PS. If anyone using a JVC800 would send me a disc, made in KHPro, that works in their player, I would welcome trying to fix the problem myself.
Looking forward to your findings.
Best Regards,
Corbin

JVC's

Corbin;

You mentioned that the JVC players;
"Sometimes, they work fine and other times they don't. "

This could be a problem in 2 areas:
1. Laser eyes are weak and need to be replaced.
2. Lasers need to be re-aligned.

Most likely it's #2 because it sounds like a "head drift" problem. Your computer cdrom drive is writing the data in one area and the players' alignment has drifted slightly, this would account for the "sometimes".

We had that same problem with some of the original 1995 Top Hits Monthly discs but once all the players were serviced and re-aligned and lasers replaced, we haven't had any problems since.

I'd recommend that you have JVC do the work. Local "authorized service centers" really don't know much about the difference between a cd player and a cd+g player.
