Recording singers during show
I have booked a birthday party and they have asked if I am able to record the singers to give the cds to them as gifts. Does Hoster offer any built in recording or is there another software I can use, and if so, what would I need to make this work. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Re: Recording singers during show
Hoster does not have any built in function for recording but Windows does, it is normally found under Start/Programes/Accessories/Recorder. this is just an Audio only recorder, no graphics recorded.
You will need to record the mixed output, that is as it leaves your mixer with the mike and audio already mixed. If you have record out connections on your mixer best to use that as the signal is at a lower level from them if not an audio out connection will do but you will have to be careful with the levels you set. before you use the built in recorder you will have to set the audio card your using for your recording to the default device from either the control panel/sound or if you have a speaker icon on your taskbar right click it and select "Recording device". from the record tab set the sound card you are going to use as the default for recording, this will set windows recorder to use that. You will probably have to set the recording level by right clicking on the Sound card and select properties then levels, start with it set to 50% and do some test recordings. Obviosly you must connect your record out from mixer to record in of sound card. When you start the recorder it will keep recording until you stop. It will then bring up windows explorer to choose a file save name, my tip here is to just save it under "untitled" every time to save time the next time you hit save it will just add a number to untitled (2). Now all these files are saved as .wma files. Now unless you have a dedicated CD recorder burner I don't see how you will have time in your show to keep burning these individual tracks for people, myself I would record every song then if someone wants a copy of their recording note their song down then burn it to disc at home and send it to them. Another idea is to convert them all to mp3 then upload them to a cloud drive then send people private links to their tracks, they can then play them direct of their tablets or phones.

Re: Recording singers during show
I used Sony Soundforge Audio Studio software installed on another computer thru USB connected to my Behringer Xenyx 1204 Usb mixer. I can record singer on the fly. And i can play the recorded song afterwards..

Re: Recording singers during show
Connecting the record out of the mixer to the input of your sound card. Using the free program Audacity will work great. Hit the letter R to start recording, hit the space bar to stop. Take the Audacity files home (2 file - one labled .aud and the other file folder of the same name). The you can process them, individualize each into mp3 files (I put them under each singer own folder) then send them to their Facebook email as mp3 files.

Re: Recording singers during show
If your mixer has a USB connection, you can plug it in to a USB port on your computer and then use one of many programs to record the music and vocals together. I use Audacity which is a FREE open source program.
