Rebuilding the DB the first time after upgrading from 3.x to Latest Version Problem

About 99.9% of all my KMAs resulted in having a value in the SyncAdj Field. Why would this happen and is there a way to prevent this from happening in future rebuilds of the DB?

Also, I noticed that, upon reimporting a song, the KMA file has the Artist and Title info added to the, what used to be, just the DiscID. If this is the way it is to be, how do I get the other KMAs to appear with Artist & Title?
What used to be prior to Video Hoster:
SC7501-10.kma
What's happening with Video Hoster:
SC7501-10 - Presley, Elvis - An American Trilogy.kma

Also, occasionally, when closing Video Hoster, I get a prompt that asks if I really want to CLOSE Hoster. This dosen't come up every time I close Hoster. I would like it to show every time to prevent an accidental shut down of Hoster.

Also, Pasting with the MOUSE into the Singer's Field on the MAIN screen (the one located just under the BookID Box), initially, won't work. I have to use the CTRL V a few times, then the MOUSE will work. Strange

Any info is appreciated.

Re: Rebuilding the DB the first time after upgrading from 3.x to Latest Version Probl

As far as Pasting, I found that, if I right Click first, then I can Paste. Actually, I could Paste the first time, but when I went to Paste over the first Paste, I Left clicked into the field, and, upon highlighting what I wanted to replace, right Clicking and Clicking Paste did not replace what was there. So, instead of Left Clicking, I immediately Right click and Paste. Seems to work.

I think on that Closing Hoster was a prompt to save a Playlist before closing. So, never mind on that.

Reimporting with the newer versions will bring up the title & artist you have entered for the import. You cannot do this with the older titles that just have the disc id without reimporting the entire disc. It's not necessary to use the file, just something people asked for that they wanted the entire info so it was impletmented.

Re: Rebuilding the DB the first time after upgrading from 3.x to Latest Version Probl

Thanks.

A few months ago I spent over a week using Songvertor and two computers converting all my KMAs to Mp3+G to work with a different Karaoke program. I wasn't impressed with the resulting Audio conversion to Mp3. I think I can use KMA - BIN as I assume I will get a true 1-1 backward no-loss conversion and re-import to get all the Headers correct. To bad there isn't an MTU KMA File/Header Conversion Tool.

Also, I replaced all data in the SyncAdj field with 0.00 as a temporary fix to the rebuild the DB fiasco. I copied the corrected column to a MSWord Doc in case I need to rebuild the F'er in the future. I will be able to, SIMPLY, copy OVER the column info from now until eternity.

You are the first one to report an issue with the SyncAdj Field to the best of my knowledge.

Id be a bit weary about using another software to alter anything in the database, There is an adjustment for setting this in the edit dialog from the multiples option select the desired tracks and use the sync adjust to save them all as 0.00.

As to converting all your kma to Bin, this won't increase the quality of the conversion although it should not have any further deteriation.
The max bit rate for a kma file is 192k but if you originally imported them any lower than that then they will never improve in quality unless you re rip them again strait from disc.
If you want maximum quality you can re import as MP3+G or zip at 320k straight from disc.

SyncAdj
My KMAs are from Hoster 3.xx.
There was no SyncAdj in the Header of those files. When I installed Video Hoster, I ran a Rebuild of the KMAs. It was after that rebuild that I noticed songs out of sync. I scrolled over and noticed that Video Hoster had added data in this column for 99.9 % of songs. some with 35.0 or higher.

I tried to use the Multiple but, it wouldn't work. That's when I manually altered the Songs.mdb. From your POST, I revisited the Multiple Edit:SyncAdj but would not update.

I went to Single Edit and set one song to 0.25 and saved. Then reset to 0.00 and re-saved.

Then went to Multiple:*:Select All:Save and it is now counting through all my songs doing the SyncAdj update to 0.00.

Thanks for mentioning the MULTIPLE EDIT screen as it made me revisit, and, this time, successful.

Looks like it is going to take awhile..LOL. I'll rebuild the DB after its done to see if my Headers are updated correctly.

I'll be using Viseo Hoster for the first time tonight.

Re: Rebuilding the DB the first time after upgrading from 3.x to Latest Version Probl

When editing the DB, which updates the Header info, why doesn't Hoster update the outside KMA FILE on the Hard Drive and, in turn, update the PATH info in the Songs.MDB?

At least, if I update the File Name manually, I can REBUILD the DB to get the PATH correct...assuming I have a lot of Edits. A few, and I just correct both manually.

Seems like a lot of work and wait time in correcting a File Names and PATHs.

If Hoster is programmed to Import songs and show Artists and Titles appended to the DiscID file name, then Hoster should correct ALL THREE aspects upon performing an EDIT.

Those Three Are:
Header - Updates correctly
File Name - Doesn't Update on HD
Path - Doesn't Update in Songs.MDB

Might be worth posting a request for this in the "Hoster new feature requests" thread.

FYI on the BOLD above comment: I used "Rename from List" by "MonkeyJob Systems." The Songs.MDB provided the List from each Folder by doing an Advanced SORT in Access.

I was able to interact MSWord and Access to strip out the excess PATH info down to the FILE.kma and renamed all 53,000 files so that I would NOT need to re-import to get the ARTIST and TITLE showing as part of the DiscID on the HD.

It took about 2 days to manipulate all the files. Upon completion, ran the REBUILD DB and all DATA in file names updated correctly in the PATH column of the Songs.mdb.
