Re: 5.30.01 Import Songs Problem

Your last post has given me hope. I have only been on 5.34 a couple of days but was under the impression I had to load each computer individually and was concerned as to how to keep the bookids matching. I use my desktop as my workstation so if I mess anything up it does not affect the laptop used for shows. That was so easy in 3.321 and 5.06 for that matter. But know I will certainly look into the backup/restore to go from one system to another. I may call for help when I get to that point, but it will be a few weeks. I had so much trouble that now only the laptop is current and I have not yet put 5.34 back on the desktop. I use the hard drive on the laptop. If I can back the laptop up to match the desktop via a usb drive to make the desktop match it will save me hours and possibly need for new books. Don't know if I can make the drive letters match as the desktop as several internal drives. But thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. I sure appreciate the support.

I use one laptop as my main work station and from that update my other 2 computers. When I use the backup/restore feature, I use a flashdrive to backup and then move it to the other computers and do a restore. You have to open Hoster for the backup and restore. Remember it is located under the "Help" drop down menu. Just follow the prompts. You MUST have the same version of Hoster on all the computers you are going to use this feature on. Good Luck!

Wow! So you never actually physically have to load the music files on the other laptops?? I can't believe you can update each computer with just a flash drive. Now I can't wait to try it. Thanks again.

In case you misunderstood me, it doesn't move the music files from computer to computer it matches the set up for the computers. If you have all your songs on an external drive and you match your computers via the backup/restore then you can use the drive on all of the computers and Hoster will have the identical setup that you backup from the first computer. Keep in mind, your song files, Instabutton files, etc. has to be in the same locations. I have 3 different computers and 3 different external hard drives. The hard drives are identical and each computer is setup to recognize them as drive E. I can use any drive with any computer since they have identical files on them. I hope this explains it a little clearer.
