This could possibly depend on the source of the music you're trying to use. The most common reason for what you are describing is music that has been downloaded off the internet and is formated at a speed other than 44.1 khz, which is the .wav standard, or possibly a midi file that was converted to .wav at a speed other than 44.1 khz.
